You might have heard on the news that NAPLAN is moving online

from 2018. Our school has already started testing our computer

readiness. Yesterday, around thirty of our Year 3 students went

through the process of logging onto computers and attempting to

perform a NAPLAN test online. There were some hiccups with the

technology and software. The children however took the hold-ups

and difficulties in their stride. We will not receive any results from

these trial tests.

Our Public Speakers all performed admirably last week in the

finals of the Lake Macquarie West Zone Public Speaking

Competition. We didn’t have any speakers invited to compete at

the Inter-Schools finals but one of our youngest students, Isla C,

in Early Stage 1 was Highly Commended for her efforts. Miss

Jeffrey will enjoy handing out the students’ awards when they

arrive at school.

We are on the look-out for new enrolments for 2018. If you know anyone in the area with a pre-schooler ready for school please ask them to contact the school.

BOOK WEEK: To celebrate Book Week this year we will be having a book parade on Thursday 24th August 2017. Children will need to choose a character from a book and dress up on the day. More information will follow closer to the date.

BOOK FAIR: We will be having a Book Fair with children able to purchase books on the day of the book parade to take home and enjoy or to donate to the library. This is a great opportunity to support the school and the library. All purchases earn reward points for the school to purchase books. I will be talking to each class about these events over the next few weeks. If you have any further questions, please contact me at school. Thank you

Mrs Cashin

This week’s game is 3 sevens in a row

To play this weeks’ game you will need some scrap paper, pencils and dice.

Have players draw a 3 x 3 grid as a game board. Players

take turns to roll a six sided dice and write the number

rolled in one of their boxes. The goal is to be able to write

two numbers in each box that combine to make 7. Players

continue taking turns until a player has been the first to

make 3 sevens in a row.

To make it trickier, you might like to find some bigger dice

and change the target.

For example with a 0-9 dice you could make it the first to

get 3 tens in a row or with a 20 sided dice to find friends of

20 in a row.

To infinity and beyond! Craig Findley (Instructional Leader)

Please ring or call in at the

office to place your child’s

name on our list. If you know

of any pre-schoolers in your

area please pass this

message on to them.

Father Day presents that were ordered, will be going home with students Thursday 31st August.

A decision has been made that we will not be selling pikelets from the canteen until

further notice. We have had a big decline in canteen volunteers so it is not possible

to make pikelets at this time, sorry for any inconvenience.
