The boy next door connotesprops theory, with a a villainwho is an antagonist. This isevident as the one of the maincharacters who is male, becomes extremely obsessiveover the female centralcharacter. This also links toprops theory as the femalecharacter is seen as thedamsel in distress- this helpsto build a good narrativebecause the antagonist isplaying a cat and mouse chasewith the damsel in distress.

This helps to conform to thecodes and conventions of a thriller lm as men arestereotypically shown as the villain, and thewoman is shown as the victim.

The crush connotes props theory witha damsel in distress and a villain. However, this time the stereotype ofthese characters has been subverteddue to villain being the female and thevictim being the male. The damsel indistress is acted as the prize towardsthe antagonist, due to having a sternobsession over him. lso there is adonor who is trying to help the damselin distress, however, towards the endof the trailer he becomes a false hero,

and begins to help out the villain.
