What a turnaround!

Surplus for Purpose USP!

• We’re ALL about the KIDS

• Stakeholders NOT Shareholders

• We don’t make profit from children

• We generate surpluses to return for the benefit of citizens

• Commercialism isn’t just about the money – infiltrating and influencing organisational behaviours

The Council’s Priorities….

Business as usual………..

What can a £2m surplus pay for?

• Offset a reduction in scarce local authority resources to avoid so the scope to avoid reductions to protect critical front line services…..

• 40-50 social workers

• Over 200 properties to accommodate homeless households (even before allowing for any rental income)

• Evidences capacity to create a one-off capital investment of c.£40million (e.g. 250 new houses)
