• Biggest deterrent is high initial cost due to the fact that all critical components of solar block gg g pare imported
• Technology needs initial support in the form of preferential tariff/feed‐in tariff
• Certain level of installed capacity in order to achieve economies of scale, critical p y ,components being imported can be localized 100%
• Capital cost of Solar Thermal Power Project can be brought down to 12 Cr/MW after achieving a installed capacity level of around 500 MW
• Capital cost can be further brought down to 8 Cr/MW at a level of around 1000 MW installed capacity
• By year 2017, tariff of electricity generated from Solar Thermal Project is likely to attain parity with that of coal based thermal power plants
