What is the present progressive?

the present progressive is what is occurring right now!

it is the same as “-ing” verbs in English. ex: I am running fast.

How is this different from the present tense?

the present tense tells us what happens on a regular basis.

The present progressive also consists of two verbs: estar + helping verb

How to conjugate the present progressive

•Step 1: choose the

correct conjugation of “estar”

estoy estamos

estás

está están

• Step 2: Change the helping verb to “ndo”

if it’s an “ar” verb

hablarando

• Step 2: Change the verb to “ndo”

if it’s an “ar” verb

hablando

if it’s an “er” or “ir”verb

corr suber ir

le oer ír

• Step 2: Change the verb to “ndo”

if it’s an “er” or “ir”verb

corr subiendo iendo

le oyendo yendo

If the last letter is a consonant, add “iendo”

If the last letter is a vowel, add “yendo”
