Safety Vases

Experimenting with hard and soft materials and textures has been the muse for the Safety Vase series. Knit holds connotations of safety, warmth and softness. Wood is a traditional furniture material that represents strength and longevity. The Safety Vase series explores and celebrates these qualities. It questions current furniture typologies and asks whether the emotional warmth of knit can be introduced to the hard world of wooden furniture. A safe hideaway for those treasues that have a tendancy to be misplaced has been created. The vase like form invites the user to touch and feel the softeness of the wool whilst hiding objects away, this furniture series is about the experiencing the knit. It poses the question of why cant the ½VWXXLMRK]SYXSYGL[LIR]SY[EOIYTMRXLIQSVRMRKSVGSQIMRJVSQ[SVObe soft and comforting. The knit is framed and contrasted by the hardness of the wood, both the minimal legs and the table top create a frame around the the vase without distracting from it.

Bird-A Clothes frame

Clothes that are more favoured have a tendency to be left outside of the wardrobe. Bird-A is a secondary wardrobe that allows for the display and ease of access to these items. The aim is to create an environment for the clothes that are in between the wear, the wardrobe and the wash, a place that allows them to be tidied without the formality of using a clothes hanger or needing to fold clothes away. Bird-A provides a quick and easy way of storing clothes and reducing mess. Bird-A aims to change human behavior by creating a simple solution for the issue of outside clothes. Bird-A is a leaning clothes stand, that can easily be placed into an existing room layout.
