Patumahoe were

delighted to welcome

internationally

acclaimed Jim Diers to

the community on

Friday 28th March.

Jim, from America and

currently on a New

Zealand tour, is

passionate about

building and inspiring

communities, it has

been his career for over

30 years. Everyone that

attended were treated

to many inspirational

stories from around the

globe, to enable them

to see what is possible

when like minded

individuals decide to

take ownership of their

community.

The community had an

opportunity to vision

for the future, look at

current strengths and

Neighbours Day Aotearoa Neighbours Day, was

on Saturday 29th and

Sunday 30th March, it

is a national celebration

to turn streets into

neighbourhoods and

strangers into

Whilst the weekend has

been and gone we can

all benefit from

neighbourly activity 365

choose to engage in

small acts of kindness to

make our community a

safe, fun and friendly

place to live.

Its simple, its worth it

A fantastic addition to

Mauku is the new

community sign at the

edge of the school

grounds on Union

Road.

Following concerns

around road safety and

traffic speed outside

Mauku School local

resident Kerri Hartley

–Jones approached

Liz Murphy at

Professionals who was

only too happy to help

donate signs to the

community.

Kerri says “I’m

delighted with the

result and would like

to thank Liz Murphy,

Michael and Grant

from Wecks, Johnny

Blanken plus Angela

and Janine from

Mauku School for

offering their time and

services in making this

happen”.

There is currently an-

other sign looking for

a home on the south

side of the school on

Union Road. If you

would be happy to

have the sign on your

land please contact

Emma at Looking

After Locals who will

pass your details on.

As part of the lead up to the School and District 150th Anniversary in

2016 the Patumahoe History Group is launching on its journey of

preparing an interesting, lively, photographic book to celebrate our

history and future.

The group have successfully engaged Dita De Boni, a professional

journalist who grew up in Patumahoe, to write our narrative - it will be

as good as we can make it!

Do you have an idea, or photos that reflect Patumahoe through the

years. To find out more or to help contact Kay on 09 236 3809
