P3b - Week beginning Monday 27th April 2020 (27/4/20)

Buenos dias mis chicos y bienvenido a la semana 4 de aprendizaje en casa!

Hello my children and welcome to week 4 of home learning! Hi Primary 3B! I am missing you all so much. It was very tricky to get back in to the swing of doing all of our work at home last week. Remember, don’t worry about finishing every single task on your home learning. Just do as much as you can – you’re growing your brain no matter how much you manage to do! This week I am setting myself a few goals. I have been doing a walk and doing P.E. with Joe Wicks every single day. I want to keep doing those things and learn to cook something new! I also want to learn some new Spanish words. And do you remember our class chair that I said I wanted to decorate? I’ve managed to do it… What do you think?

Literacy: Reading Comprehension: 1. Spend 30 minutes completing activities on Read Theory.

Remember you should read the passages and answer the questions without help. 2. Reding for enjoyment: Can you cross off some more squares on your reading bingo grid?

Log on to Oxford Owls. Read the book assigned to your group by clicking on the ebooks section of the website then do the activities that go with that book. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/ My class login: gilmertonp3b Password: happyclass If you can’t remember which group you’re in, just look at the back of your logins that were sent home. The colour of the shape is your reading group.

Listening for information: Ask your grownup, brother or sister to read the text from the following card. Can you follow the instructions and draw all the items in the correct place in your jotter? Here are two for you to have a go at.

Writing:

Think of as many words as you can to describe spring. Think of things you might see, taste, touch, hear or smell at this time of year and write these words down in your jotter. We are going to use these words to help us to write an acrostic poem this week. Remember when writing an acrostic poem, you need to begin writing each line with the letter at the start of the line.

Mr What: I can write an acrostic poem Miss How:

I have started each new line with a word beginning with the correct letter.

I have started each new line with a word beginning with the correct letter and have used capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

I have started each new line with a word beginning with the correct letter and have used capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. I have also used connectives and adjectives.

Here is a template for you to use. You can colour it in and draw a spring picture in your jotter as well.

Spelling: Spelling revision. Here is a days, months and seasons word mat for you. Practice spelling these words using the look, say, cover, write and check method. You could also create a word search using as many of the words as you can. Test your grown up, brother or sister to see how many they can find.

You can also try them in Spanish if you feel confident that you can spell them all in English. (Fall is American for Autumn>)

Handwriting: Practice writing some more of your common words in neat cursive handwriting. You could also make up some silly sentences using some of your words.

Health and Wellbeing:

1. Try to do Joe Wicks’ P.E. every morning! Here is a link to his YouTube Channel:

2. Goal Setting!

Before school closed we had begun to look at setting personal and educational goals.

Have a think about what you would like to achieve this term and set yourself a personal and educational goal.

When you think you have achieved your goal you can put it in the net and set yourself another one!

Have a lovely week P3! 😊
