Principal’s Report

Remote Learning 2.0 Tomorrow marks the ‘official’ completion of four weeks of learning whilst being at home. Well, it’s not quite four complete weeks as we didn’t get underway until part way through the initial week when the change was declared. I guess, if we take out the first part of the week and take out pupil free day, the real time frame is 16 days at the end of school tomorrow. For some, the sixteen ‘school’ days have flown with lots of school work completed, assignments underway or handed in, SACs completed and study well in hand. For some, the science experiments have been a bonus along with the physical breaks and the challenges. For others, the 16 days may have been somewhat harder with the days dragging by and the challenges of Webex and staying connected have mounted up. It is hoped that you have been able to continue to be focused, continue to link with teachers and friends and continue to complete the work required. Thanks, again, to parents, carers and family who have supported the remote learning program. With a bit of luck and good management, the working at home structure may be a memory. No dates for return have been announced at this stage.

Progress Reports We have made the commitment to provide Progress Reports fortnightly during this Remote Learn-ing 2.0 period. The next report will be on Compass for you to access tomorrow (Friday) morning. I ask that you take the time to check the progress reports and, if there are great responses, please congratulate your child. If, on the other hand, you are disappointed or concerned about aspects of the report, talk, in the first instance, to your child and ascertain why the report may not be as good as expected. Then, after the discussion, contact the teacher and work out a plan for improvement for the next fortnight. We are committed to providing and ensuring the best we can during this remote learning period so please, if you have concerns, contact the school.

Whole School Assembly Our next whole school assembly will be held this coming Tuesday. Students, parents and carers are all invited to join us at 8.55am on Tuesday 1st September for another online get-together for all of our school community.

Student Survey Each year students in Years 4 to 12 complete a Department of Education student survey. This

online survey provides valuable information for our school and enables us to identify strengths

across our school as well as areas where we need to improve. This year, the survey will be done

while students are at home. This coming Monday morning students will be doing the survey as

part of an extended home group session. It is important that all students log-on and that all

complete the survey as the information will provide a snap-shot of remote leaning as well as

progress. Please assist by supervising your child where necessary.

Primary Prattle Prep– 2 Children should have chocolate for breakfast

I believe all children should have chocolate for break-fast.

Firstly, it allows you teeth and bones to grow strong.

Secondly, the food is always eaten.

Finally, your mum doesn’t have to cook.

We have finished our persuasive writing unit. This was one of our favourite topics to write about.

This topic was- should children have chocolate for breakfast. Have a read and think about which arguments helped you conclude on whether or not you will be having chocolate for breakfast.

Should children have chocolate for Breakfast?

Firstly, chocolate is not yummy for me. I don’t eat it because it has nuts in it and I don’t like nuts.

Secondly, in the mornings chocolate does not fill you up. Some chocolate is not healthy.

Thirdly, some people are not allowed to have chocolate because it has milk and they are not allowed milk. Some people are not allowed nuts.
