APRIL 11 2015, BRISBANE TIMES Queensland Government orders investigation of jobs on Bombardier consortium project

The company that won the contract to design Queensland's newest trains and then build them in India rejects claims it favours employing Indians instead of Australians on the $4.4 billion project.

However the Queensland Transport Department has on Friday asked for a staffing audit on the company which won the New Generation Rolling Stock project.

The Bombardier Consortium won the contract from the previous state government in January 2014.Concerns about skilled professional Australians finding it hard to get work on the project were published by Fairfax Media this week.

Former Transport Minister Scott Emerson said no concerns were raised with him about locals missing out on jobs in the train design phase, a spokeswoman said on Friday.
