Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to BIT’s
7th Annual World Congress of Ocean-2018 (WCO-2018), which will be held in China during
November 2-4, 2018.
It is intended to provide a platform for professionals around the world to exchange
state-of-the-art research and development and identify research needs and opportunities
in the field of Ocean and Aquaculture.
WCO-2018 covers a wide range of topics related to Ocean Economy, Maritime Law, Ocean
Engineering, Ocean Energy, Green Port, Shipping & Modern Shipbuilding, Marine
Management and Environment Protection, Ocean Science, etc. Over the conference
period, you will have opportunities to share information and the best practices on from
current research to commercial implementation of new technologies. At the same time, we
would explore further communication and collaboration through social activities during
the conference.
Based on the huge success of last event of WCO-2017, we are strongly confident
WCO-2018 will be a great success and meet our expectations.

Welcome 01
The theme of 7th Annual World Congress of Ocean-2018
is "One Ocean One Dream". The objective of this
Congress is to bring together experts, academicians,
senior scientists, industry executives and project
leaders involved in ocean field to share, network and
develop advanced experience and technology. The
Conference will feature a wide range of topics relevant to
diverse perspectives such as Marine Economy & Law;
Ocean Energy and Engineering; Green Port; Shipping &
Modern Shipbuilding, Marine Management and
Environment Protection, Ocean Science, etc. These
presentations will identify or offer solutions to problems,
utilize case studies, identify knowledge gaps or
collaboration opportunities, and discuss broader
applications and implications of material presented.

Mr. Paul Holthus founded and leads the World
Ocean Council (WOC), the international,
multi-industry business leadership alliance on
ocean sustainable development. His work brings
together shipping, fisheries, aquaculture, tourism,
oil/gas, offshore renewables, seabed mining,
submarine cables, ports, investment and other
ocean industries to create ocean business
community leadership and collaboration in
addressing shared marine sustainable
development challenges. He has grown the WOC
to a global, nulti-sectoral network of 34,000+
ocean industry stakeholders. He is a frequent
speaker at international industry, ocean, and
island and Blue Economy conferences. He was
one of 5 people invited to be on the UN Secretary
General’s Ocean Expert Group for Rio+20 in 2012.
He led ocean industry involvement in the UN
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) process and
produced a report analyzing the SDGs in relation
to ocean industries. At the 2017 UN Ocean
Conference, he organized business and finance
participation and was invited to speak to the UN
General Assembly on behalf of the ocean
business community.
Mr. George Guy Thomas is now on contract to the
US Department of Homeland Security Science &
Technology (DHS S&T) as their subject matter expert
(SME) for Maritime Domain Awareness and
Commercial Earth Observation Space Systems, Guy
is the former US Science & Technology Advisor for
Maritime Domain Awareness (2003-2012) and creator
of both space-based AIS & C-SIGMA, (Collaboration
in Space for International Global Maritime
Awareness). He also serves as the
technical/academic advisor to the Multinational
Maritime Security Center of Excellence. Guy has
been involved in surveillance operations and
systems in the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard,
industry, Johns Hopkins’ Applied Physics Lab
(JHU/APL) as well as the Department of Homeland
Security and its operational elements. As one of the
first designated Navy Space Operations
sub-specialists, he was the first person in the
history of the Navy to be quadrupled qualified. He
was awarded the Distinguished Career Service
Award in 2012, and the US Geospatial Intelligence
Foundation’s Individual Achievement Award in 2015.
Mr. Roger Johnston has been the CEO of
Pilbara Ports Authority since 2012, which
incorporates two of the world’s largest bulk
export ports, both located in the mineral
rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Well-regarded for his clear leadership and
focused strategic capabilities, he brings
with him over 35 years’ experience as a
senior Executive and Company Director. Mr.
Johnston has previously worked in senior
roles with a number of multinationals and
logistics companies. With the significant
growth in export trade in recent years, Mr.
Johnston has led the development and
implementation of world-leading
capabilities across the ports in the Pilbara.
His emphasis and dedication to the safety
of his employees across all sites is evident
in the outstanding safety performance
levels achieved in recent years.

Speakers
The 6th Annual World Congress of Ocean held in Shenzhen Marriott Hotel
Golden Bay from November 3-5 in China, has achieved great success. The
theme of the conference was “Our Ocean, Our Future”. The conference
jointly held with the 6th Annual World Congress of Aquaculture and Fisheries
(WCAF-2017), which has also attracted a lot of attention.
This year's congress has obtained highly focus and extensive attentions
throughout the world. Honorable leaders and distinguished guests
worldwide have come to attend this congress. In the Opening Ceremony and
High-level Dialogue, over 500 participants from more than 30 countries heard
the warmly discussion from five honored leaders. During the whole three
days’ conference, totally, there were in excess of 600 participants, 150
presentations, 40 posters altogether join in the two conferences. Most
participants gave a high appraisal to WCO-2017.
After the conference many participants have expressed their satisfaction
with the congress and had fine memories of Shenzhen. We believe that with
the support and constructive suggestions the next conference will still be
even better. We welcome you to join us next year.

Weihai, known in the past as the Weihai
Garrison, and sometimes as Port Edward
during the colonial period, is a prefecture-level
city in eastern Shandong province, People's
Republic of China. Weihai is the center of
“China-Japan-Korea Yellow Sea Economic
Circle” and “Qingdao-Yantai-Weihai around
Yellow sea and Bo Sea Economic Circle”. It is
a beautiful coastal tourist city and also a
historical coastal defense spot. Weihai has
been named as China’s first National Hygienic
City, one of the first National Model City
Cluster of Environmental Protection and one
of the National Outstanding Tourism Cities.
Moreover, it has been awarded twice for the
Best Practice for Improving the Living
Environment by the UN. As the leading open
city of Shandong Province, Weihai has set up
the business relationship with more than 160
nations and regions in the world.

WCO-2018 would like to encourage everyone to submit a high quality abstract
for both oral and poster presentations. Authors are strongly encouraged to
consider both poster & oral presentations as poster session is also an integral
part of the program. Papers submitted for” oral presentation only” may not be
accepted as oral presentations due to the limited number of available speech
slots. All abstracts must be in English - the official language of the conference.
Each oral presenter shall be entitled to no more than 20 minutes for a
presentation, plus 5 minutes for questions.
Authors of studies involving proprietary products or formulations should
present this information in workshops or the exhibitions. Oral presentations
should use Power Point. Please submit your abstract in the standard format
as early as possible before the deadline on October 1st, 2018.

This conference is intended for marine researchers and those
working within the broader research community. All delegates
from academia, industry and government, with an interest in
different areas such as Ocean Economy & Policy, Maritime
Law, Marine Energy, Marine Environment, Oceanography,
Coastal and Offshore Engineering, who wish to hear the
newest advances and contribute efforts to this field. The
World Ocean Congress perennially plays host to delegates:
Professional Delegates - Individuals who are or have
been engaged, or directed research, in a branch of
aquatic science or in aquatic science education and who
either possess appropriate academic qualifications or
because of knowledge and experience occupy positions
in this field.
Corporate Delegates - Organizations, agencies or
institutions that have objects, powers or functions
relevant to aquatic science and that are interested in,
and wish to support in a demonstrable way
Students Delegates - Individuals who are studying
aquatic science related subjects at a tertiary level
education and are enrolled at an education institution in
part-time (i.e. with at least a 50% load) or full-time
student status.
