Official Rules for the 2019 Derby Down the Deuce

1. The maximum weight of a car and occupant is 500lbs.

2. The maximum car size 5’ wide X 10’ long X 10’ tall.

3. The car must have no detachable parts (static display exception).

4. Cars are gravity driven ONLY. No propulsion systems are allowed.

5. Braking system— cars must be able to steer while braking. Cars that brake the wheel must have brakes on each “side-by-side” set of wheels Cars that brake the ground using friction must use rubber. No wood or metal ground pads.

6. Cars must have at least 3 wheels supporting the vehicle during the race.

7. The minimum age of any driver is 14. Minimum age of a passenger is 8. If a passage is under 14 the driver must be at least 21. Parental consent is required for any driver or passenger under 18.

8. All driver’s and passengers must wear approved safety helmets.

9. Races start off a starting ramp which measures 12’ long X 7’ wide X 30” high. All cars must rest against the Starting Gate at the center of the ramp which measures 12”w. X 12”h. The front most part of your car must rest upon this gate. Attention should be given to low riding cars. If your car is too low and axles are placed inward you may bottom out.

10. All vehicles, drivers and passengers will be required to attend a Weigh-In and Inspection on Friday, June 7th, 5PM-7PM at Arizona Dodge at 260 W. Deuce of Clubs, Show Low.

11. After Weight-In, ALL vehicles will be kept at the designated secure site until the race.

12. Participants that demonstrate un-sportsmen like conduct will be disqualified.

13. Cars will be towed up the hill by our tow crew. It is advisable that your car be equipped with a tow hook/ring. You may tow your own vehicle with an ATV but must contact a member of the Committee for approval in advance.

14. The Line-Up Official at the Start Ramp reserves the authority to make last minutes changes in the line-up to suit the needs of the race.

15. The Award Ceremony will be at the Show Low Days Event at noon at the Frontier Park. We request the presents of the winning cars and drivers for award recognition.

with Show Low Days.

2019 Categories and Awards ALL entries will compete for Speed and Design.

There is also a Special Needs Category. If you have an interest in running a Special Needs car, or have a Special Needs Driver that you would like to participate, please contact the Show Low Chamber at 928-537-2326 or Mike Bosley at 928-205-2263 for prior instruction and approval.

The fastest cars will patriciate in and elimination race for the fastest three cars.

1st Place: $1000 and Trophy and travel-ing King of the Deuce Cup

2nd Place: $500 and Trophy

3rd Place: $300 and Trophy

Cars will be judged for design awards as follows:

Over-All Design: $1000 and Trophy

5 separate Judges Awards: $100 and Trophy each.

Design Award Judges will be at the Friday night Derby Inspection and Weigh-In. They will be judging design features then, so be ready!

The traveling King of the Deuce Cup will travel each year with the winner.
