Well done to all riders and supporters who headed down to Werribee for the WPC Horse Trials over the weekend of September 26th-27th. The weather couldn’t have been better. There were some great results for some of our riders and more importantly a wonderful time was had by all. You were great ambassadors for Doongala Pony Club. A big thanks to Georgina for co-ordinating everything. You did a fantastic job! We have certainly had an early taste of summer. Mid-thirties temperatures in early October is a rare event and is probably a sign of a long, hot summer ahead. Make sure you familiarise yourself with the fire procedures as outlined in a recent email from our Secretary Jodi. You never know when a fire drill may occur. ;-) At the time of writing the forecast maximum for Sunday is 30 degrees so remember the sunscreen and keep yourself and horses well hydrated. Speaking of heat, it would have been very warm at the Pony Club Nationals over in Murray Bridge S.A. I haven’t been able to track down any results on-line but I’m sure Anna will let us know in her report how Monique and Emma went. Well done again on being selected for the Victorian Team. If you haven’t sent in your camp forms and paid your deposit yet you are at risk of missing out on a place. The camp will now be opened up to neighbouring clubs so we can get the numbers required to make it feasible. We have some great instructors booked so if you are wanting to attend you need to get that form in NOW. Booking forms will be available soon for our Presentation Evening to be held at Eastwood Golf Club on 13th December. This will be a great night and will be subsidised by the club to keep costs a rate affordable to everyone. Have a great rally! Graeme Adam

Sounds like everyone had a good time at Werribee Horse Trials. The weather was just right for a change. Wish I could have come to watch but had to organise packing for Nationals and a family bbq. Emma participated in an MGA demonstration at the Melbourne Show on the Monday while I finished the packing! Then Tuesday morning we headed to our overnight stop at Nhill and then onto Murray Bridge the next day for the PCA National Championships. Well done to Monique and Emma. The Senior Tetrathlon Team came first and the Senior Mounted Games Team came third. The Victorian Team won the Shield for the overall results. Reports to come in next newsletter. Could everyone please wear their Doongala Pony Club polo this rally as we will take a whole Club Photo straight after the lunchtime meeting/vet talk. I have emailed out a proposed list of times to those who have booked items with Kim Johnson the Vet. The Interzone Mounted Games Challenge will now be held on 21st November at the PCAV Equestrian Centre in Gladysdale. Details to come soon. There is still time to book your horse in for James Harvey, Horse Dentist who is coming to our November Rally. Please see me for bookings. Reminder to bring your Certificate Workbooks to rally so that you can get activities signed off. Also, a reminder to start working on your costume for you and your pony for the Fancy Dress competition at our Christmas Rally. See you on Sunday Anna

Reminders YEAR BOOK
Rachel has kindly offered to put together our Yearbook . Could everyone please submit a photo of
your horse and you and a write a paragraph of a memory or reflection for the last year.
Please send them to Rachel ratbag026@gmail.com
The deadline is October rally, so get to it! Would like to make sure everyone is included.
CROSS COUNTRY WORKING BEE
We would love all hands on deck to get our cross country up and running again on the 15th of
November. There will be a variety of jobs to suit everyone.
BINS
Please ensure bins are put out on opposite side of the road to the pony club gates.
LUNGING
If you need to lunge your horse, it must be done in the back arena. No other horse/s are allowed
in the arena while you are lunging your horse. The new roundyard is nearly finished. We are
waiting for the ground to dry out so the machinery can be used to put the sand in. We have had to
put a lock on it, as someone ignored the sign and used it. We then had to hire a wackerpacker to
repair the damage to the base.
USE OF THE GROUNDS
Being a member at Doongala Pony Club allows you the use of the grounds. However, there are
times when you cannot ride at the grounds;
The dates are included in the newsletter and emailed where applicable to members.
If there are lessons being held on the arena, please make sure you either use the half of arena that
isn’t being used or the back arena. It is essential that riders are courteous of the rider having the
lesson for their safety and yours.
