GENERAL INFORMATION
Established in 2007, the NY State Chapter of the ASMBS Mission is to be the definitive venue for dealing with statewide issues in bariatric surgery. The Chapter goal is to advocate on behalf of patients and providers in New York State. Our efforts focus on the advancement of education and educational programs for physicians, integrated health members, and hospital staff both clinical and administrative.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES• Compare edited/revised guidelines and their clinical implications• Examine the prevalence of overweight and obesity among children and adults in
New York State• To learn the process of working with Human Resources to make benefit changes
related to the employees of a hospital system• To identify at-risk patients for poor outcomes as defined by multiple hospital
readmissions and decreased life span• Understand surgical techniques that may potentially minimize complications
associated with sleeve gastrectomy• List methods for designing a Collaborative practice with physicians as part of a
health care team• Learn about environmental factors the impact food choices, consumption and even
enjoyment.
