Values Clarification

Value

An enduring preference for a mode of conduct (honesty), or a state of existence

A judgment of interest, preference, desire

Something that is freely chosen from alternatives , is acted upon and celebrated

Regarded as good, worthwhile, important

More general & more central to my personality than are my attitudes

Value System

• An organization of values in terms of their relative importance

• A person’s values cluster to form a value system

• It is influenced by our over – all frame of reference, our world view, & assumptions that we make

Values Clarification

• A method or process by which we help a person discover/ identify his/ her beliefs, attitudes, values, behaviors

• It is the process of assisting people to realize what values they hold & they strongly held

• Are those end estates that we regard as desirable in themselves

• It transcend immediate needs, and shape our long – term goals

• It go beyond operative values, for they involved standard which can be applied to many situations
