Immunization News:No Shots Across TexasDue to changes to State policy, theMontgomery County Public HealthDistrict has sent notification thatShots Across Texas will not be heldthis August. The Texas Vaccinesfor Children (TVFC) program no longer allows vaccinations tochildren covered by private insurance. Local public health clinicscan vaccinate uninsured children or those covered by Medicare,CHIP, or SSI. Regulations require that those with private insurance see their physician. Parents and students are encouraged to makevaccination appointments as soon as possible to avoid long lines and delays. Immunization requirements have not changed forTexas school children for the 2012-13 school year.

If you do not have insurance, call 211 or visit http://www.vaccinatemctx.org for a list of clinics and events that provide vaccines at little or no cost to you.

If you have Medicaid, CHIP or SSI, contact your primary care provider toschedule an appointment. Most immunizations are covered by your plan.

If you have private insurance, call the number on the back of your insurance card to find out what your plan covers. Then call your physician to schedule vaccination appointments.
