Another very busy week has passed. The School Band had a fantastic time with Gary Clarrk from Sydney last Friday and then enjoyed listening to the 70 piece Girls Band from Sydney. Thank you to the parents from the band who supplied a lovely spread of food for our visitors. Special thanks to Mr Craig Walton, Mrs Henman and Mr Harris for coordinating this wonderful experience for our students.
The intensive swimming concludes this Thursday. The students are making great progress in the water and it leads nicely into the school holidays. Learning to swim and being water safe is very crucial to all children. Follow up lessons over the break would see these children advance even further. Thank you to Miss Julie Masters for organising the swim school for the students and to all the teachers who have assisted in the pool with the lessons.
At the end of each year the school carries out a parent survey that forms part of our mandatory reporting to parents and the wider community through the Annual School Report. This survey assists us with future planning in a variety of areas. It would be GREATLY appreciated if you could take five minutes out of your day to complete the survey attached and return by Friday 28th November.

Band Recruitment
It was wonderful to see so many students interested in joining our Band Program. We request that any students who have decided to join the band, return their blue Recruitment Form detailing their 3 instrument preferences by Friday 21st November. Any students who wish to join band, but were unable to attend Band Recruitment Night can still pick up information packages from the school office.
Band Development Workshop with Garry Clarrk
On Friday 14th of November, all current band students participated in a special workshop run by Gary Clarrk, a conductor from Sydney. Our students were able to have this wonderful opportunity because our Concert Band students won a Band Development Grant when they performed at the NSW Music Festival in Sydney in Term 3. The workshop was a great success with students quickly learning some new tips to become better musicians.
A big thank you to Garry for coming all the way from Sydney to run this workshop and to the NSW Music Festival for recognising the talent of our students and sending a conductor to work with us.
Thank you also to all of the parents that sent items for morning tea. The students really appreciated the break from the heat and a chance to eat.
Band Performance from North Sydney Girls High School KPS had a very musical morning last Friday, 21st November. After the Band Development Workshop, all
students in Years 2-6 were lucky enough to watch a Concert Band performance by the North Sydney Girls High School Band. The band is composed
of 71 talented musicians. Our students enjoyed singing along to Fireflies by Owl City, songs from the Frozen movie and
songs from ABBA. The performance was very entertaining and inspired many of our
students to want to learn to play an instrument.

Music to our ears and Lest We Forget! Wow, Wow, Wow. It is always a pleasure to hear our fabulous band students practising their tunes, especially more so over the past few weeks. The bands are sounding absolutely brilliant with all the extra practices, recent workshops and other fabulous experiences they have shared. All this effort has resulted in increasing their musical talents and providing the rest of the school with happy musical vibes as well. Various band photos are currently on display on our Clever Kooringal Kids board in the foyer, showcasing a very polished group of students. Band recruitment packages are still available in the front office for students in Years 2-5. With special focus on Remembrance Day last week, it is very timely that Mrs Tarryn Lean, Defence School Transition Aide, together with the students of our Defence families, created fabulous red, white and purple poppy artworks. Do YOU know the significance of the different coloured poppies and what they represent? Come and check the display to find out! These students also visited the elderly residents of the Forest Centre and entertained them with games and craft activities.
Come and see our latest Band and Defence family students display in the front office
Intensive Swimming Program It has been wonderful to watch the progress of students attending the intensive swimming program. Students are keen to attend and are all having a wonderful time. Swimming lessons will help keep students safe near water over the summer and prepare them for the swimming carnival in Term 1 Week 3 2015

KPS P&C Run Run On Wednesday 5th November KPS students participated in the P&C School Fun Run. The day was full of fun and laughter as the students ran around the school, through various water sprays and to the beat of many catchy songs. The Fun Run was a highly successful day which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. KPS and the P&C would like the thank all the students, parents, carers and teachers for their support and a special mention to the Cancer Council and also the Rural Fire brigade for coming to help cool off the students with their fire truck. Big congratulations to all students for getting behind the fun run and making it an amazing day. The P&C were thrilled with the amount of fundraising you all did with an estimation of $7000 being raised for school resources. Student fundraising prizes should arrive in the next few weeks and as will the announcement of the class who raised the most money. If students still have any fundraising forms and money at home please bring them back to the school as soon as possible. Well Done KPS Morgan Davy –Fun Run Coordinator
