Watson-Marlow, has l aunched a n e w series of hose-pump, the Bredel SPX, fea tu r ing a n e w pa ten t -pending design.

The SPX a d v a n c e m e n t is h igh l igh ted by its di rect-cou- p l e d des ign w h i c h c o m b i n e s the benef i ts of bo th bare-shaft and c lose-coupled designs tradi- t ional ly assoc ia ted wi th hose p u m p s , wh i l e r emedy ing the drawbacks of each.

Prev ious to this deve lop- ment, the Bredel hose p u m p s had e m p l o y e d the bare-shaf t design, wh ich offered excel len t reliability, low main tenance , and a fully p r o t e c t e d gearbox. Close-

c o u p l e d des igns , whi l e more c o m p a c t and easier to install, cou ld not p rovide rel iable gear- b o x protec t ion . The n e w SPX di rec t -coupled design offers the small footpr in t and ease installa- t ion along wi th the low mainte- nance, reliability, and gea rbox pro tec t ion .

The SPX gea rbox actual ly plugs in to the p u m p h e a d wi th an innovative buffer zone pro- tecting the gearbox and provid- ing early warning in the unlikely event of a seal failure. The new SPX Series hosepumps also fea- ture simple hose clamping com- b ined wi th a p o w e r e d hose- changing system, increased cor- ros ion resis tance, and a re- designed casing for easier main- tenance and greater stability.
