When I Go Riding…a social story

I ride horses at Clearwind Farm.

At the barn there are lots of different sounds and smells.

When I get to the barn I pick out and put on my helmet.

I act calm and quiet around the horses so I don’t scare them.

I stay near my helper when I am in the barn.

Sometimes I help groom my horse.

My instructor helps me get on my horse in the arena.

I ride my horse and listen to my instructor’s directions.

We play fun games while we ride.

My helpers lead my horse and walk beside me.

I give my horse a big pat and tell him “good job”.

When my lesson is over I get down from my horse.

Sometimes I am allowed to feed my horse a treat.

When its time to leave I say goodbye to my horse and friends.

Horseback riding is really fun!
