Deduce the meaning of Biomagnification• You may have heard that it is unsafe to eat a large quantity of

tuna fish because of the potential accumulation of mercury. Mercury is an element (abiotic factor) released from the burning of coal (other sources as well). Mercury can be toxic to humans in large quantities.

• Counting all the individuals is too complicated to do• So we use techniques to make estimates of numbers of individuals• Today we will look at transects, quadrants, and mark-recapture
