Friday, the 16th November 2012 goes down in the history of two young and dynamic Master in
Innovation, Strategy and Entrepreneurship students from Grenoble Ecole de Management:
Laura Chagneux and Yasemin Erbil.
They participated in an entrepreneurial challenge with a dream, open minds and a small idea
that arose during a brainstorming session the very same day. Never could these two students
have imagined going this far.
They started with an observation and identified a pain point - lonely drivers in anonymous
cities and pedestrians that go in the same direction and are in need of a lift. The solution: Pick
Me Up, a mobile application that brings together car drivers and pedestrians, just in time, who
are not only driving in the same direction, but also share common interests.
The startup weekend allows every student who has an idea to make a pitch of one minute
and convince the audience. Then, the most promising projects are selected and teams are
formed. The developer Will Barbour and ESC Finance student Maxime Damery joined the Pick
Me Up Team with equal enthusiasm as Laura and Yasemin.
After winning the Startup Weekend Grenoble, the Pick Me Up Team qualified for the Global
Startup Battle that requested a 90 second video about their project idea. After an exciting
week of voting for the best worldwide startup idea, they ranked #42 among 112 projects with
over 900 votes.
With a lot of support from coaches, class mates, friends and family, the two girls and Will
continue passionately to advance this project idea to a first prototype, work on the design and
the project strategy. They recently changed the name from Pick Me Up to Kodicar.
So join the Kodicar community: www.kodicar.com
Special thanks to the organization team of the Startup Weekend Grenoble that created an
unforgettable trace in our lives, the jury who enabled us to continue this adventure, and the
coaches that enormously challenged us with their questions.

PLANT STANDBY & SLEEP MODES INNOVATION PROJECT – SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC
Xavier Pain, Innovation Project Manager at Schneider Electric, started his first meeting with us very enthusiastically saying that: “For four consecutive years, Schneider Electric has been
partnering with GGSB for the ISE program and each year we are more satisfied from the outcome it brings for our innovative projects, my expectations from you are really high”. His
eagerness increased our responsibility and commitment towards Schneider Electric and GGSB.
Our mission has started by sharing our creativity and design thinking then combing them with our business background for completing the project. Moreover, the assistance provided by
Jonatan Pinkse, Associate Professor at Grenoble Ecole de Management, is giving us a great opportunity to learn from his wide knowledge in business planning and strategic management.
We are doing our best to bring benefit to Schneider and ourselves through this challenging
consulting experience.
PARTNERING UP WITH THE BIOMÉRIEUX R&D TEAM
A lucky team of four has had the opportunity and privilege of visiting the world leader in the field of in vitro diagnostics and food testing’s main site of Marcy l’Etoile (North of Lyon). We
were given an educational and inspirational guided tour of bioMérieux’s design laboratories and showroom. We are very honoured to be given this opportunity to learn from one of the
biggest player in the biotechnology industry. We were also treated to a scrumptious lunch in the VIP café but that did not stop engaging conversations that continued throughout.
Following the lunch, we set to work. We had more than 2.5 hours of intense discussions,
questions and presentations of the case study. We were truly amazed and inspired by the erudite, dynamic and innovative minds of the bioMérieux R&D Team. We learned so much
from them within the short hours and we are very excited to have embarked on this project. For many of us, this is the first contact with a real business consulting experience and
needless to say, we are already working hard at it!
A. DE FUSSIGNY LIVE BUSINESS CASE
Our Team (Guillaume de Chanterac, Nicolas Zilic, Nikos Vasileiadis and Florian Braunsteiner) has successfully applied to work with the prestigious Cognac Company “A. de Fussigny” on the
live business case for our program. We are all very pleased to work on such an interesting business case and we are fully motivated to fulfill the high expectations of the company. In
our business case, we cover a broad variety of subjects such as enhancing the marketing
strategy or the acquisition of new clients. So far, we have done an in-depth internal and external analysis of the company as well as a
critical evaluation of their online communication strategy. Currently, we are conducting a detailed market study that will hopefully help us gain critical knowledge on the company’s
competitors, such as Hennessy or Remy Martin, and evaluate the current and possible future
markets of A. de Fussigny Cognac.
The next highlight of our business case will be the company visit to Cognac. During our stay in mid-January, we will have the opportunity to explore the unique Cognac Industry on site and
evaluate our work progress as well as redefining existing goals and setting new targets. So far
the business case has proven to be very valuable to us and we are looking forward to the upcoming challenges.

ROSSIGNOL LIVE BUSINESS CASE
It all began when our lucky team of four, all ski-enthusiasts, was chosen to work with
‘Rossignol’, the French world leader in alpine, snowboard, and Nordic equipment. After Laura Chagneux, Siim Sander Sarri, Kaspar Kunz, and Rawad Boulos met for the first time with
Helene Michel, our tutor, and Djamel Khadir, European Key Account Manager, we were invited
for a tour of the headquarters and factory. As we reached St. Jean de Moirans, we were impressed by a beautiful structure that was the headquarters and production area for the
racing ski series. Djamel greeted us and stayed with us throughout our tour of the production area, which lasted well over an hour. We got a real feel of what our project is based on, and
we discovered that there is much more to producing top class skis. We then held a meeting to present to our client what form of research we intend on pursuing, along with a detailed plan
on how we plan on tackling the matter at hand. This meeting would set us off in the right
direction and gear us with the right attitude to aid in developing the most appropriate rental experience. It is safe to say we are as excited to consult as we are to hit the slopes this
season!
Beer Pong! – MSc ISE’s first Social Networking Event!
The MSc ISE5 organized Beer Pong
Tournament 2012 (Ping Pong & Beer drinking Competition)on the 24th October 2012 as part of its effort to raise funds and
to bond with the GGSB and GEM community. The event was organized as
part of our Managerial Creativity course but
it turned out to be more than just a class project.
The ‘Finance Team’ of the Managerial Creativity Organization combined work and fun in this
event to give GEM students a different social experience from the usual ‘drinking parties’.
Participants signed up in teams of two to compete in the Beer Pong Tournament. To win in each round, the team must aim the ping-pong ball into one of the cups on the other end of
the table with precision. Opposing team will have to drink up the beer in the cup where the ping-pong ball landed.

Needless to say, the planning and organization of the event was an exhilarating experience in
itself. Our deadline was very tight and we had to organized, market and execute the project within two weeks, before the ESC students commence their mid-term break. As foreign
students who have been in France less than 2 months, we struggled with lack of local knowledge and language. We enlisted our Marketing Team member in the class to help us
with negotiation with the Planetalis’ bar owner. We also organized it in conjunction with an
early Halloween Party held by Aloha. Amidst mounting deadlines, project work and school commitment, we managed to pull our resources to put together a fun event for all the
participants and attendees.
We also embarked on our very first social media marketing of the event via Facebook and we enlisted everyone in the class to spread the word around school. We have 8
teams who signed up and the night was set to go. With less than one week to the event, the team split among ourselves the remaining tasks of tickets printing, prize
sourcing, liaisons with Planetalis, the event coordination. We managed to overcome
initial hiccups and the effort really paid off!
It was a superb night and we made a lot of new
friends! We are really glad
that we decided to organize as it really brought the class
together in a non-academic setting. It was a novel
experience for some of us
who were absolutely new to France to have organized
something like this for so many people!
