18 sports were represented with the following team breakdowns: Baseball – 9, Men’s Basketball – 1, Women’s Basketball – 2, Bowling – 5, Football – 24, Men’s Golf – 2, Women’s Golf – 2, Women’s Soccer – 7, Softball – 5, Men’s Tennis – 3, Women’s Tennis – 4, Men’s Track – 10, Women’s Track – 4, and Volleyball – 6. Of the 84 scholar student-athletes, 6 earned a perfect 4.0 GPA, 24 earned GPAs in the 3.5-3.99 range and 53 earned GPAs between a 3.0-3.49.

Chi Alpha SigmaNational College Athlete Honor Society The JSU Division of Athletics inducted 12 student-athletes into the organization in Spring of 2013.Induction requirements include:

•Earning and maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout the junior and senior years. •Lettering in at least one sport

Jackson State University’s “930 INITIATIVE”

Is an initiative to enhance the academic outcomes

of its student athlete population. Theframework is centered around the critical issues identified in the University’s current improvement plan and this is an extension of those efforts. The expected outcomes of

the initiative are Increased team Academic Progress Rates (APR), Graduation Success Rates, Federal Graduation Rates, team and departmental grade point averages plus

credit hours earned.
