ISSUES Low coverage of children against enrolment (63%), as per ASER
2013, 62% of enrolled children were present on the day of visit.
Delay in release of funds (substantiated by JRM also).
Non-lifting of food grains as per allocation.
Less utilization of Transportation Assistance (46%).
Lack of proper storage bins for food grains.
No meeting of District level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee. Poor coverage under School Health Programme (only 27% of
enrolled children screened).
Use of firewood as mode of cooking (identified by JRM also).

• 120 CCH trained by The Akshay Patra Foundation during a three days State level workshop.
• Training regarding WIFS and Micro Nutrient distribution has been provided to 2000 field functionaries/teachers in convergence with NRHM & Health Department.
• Functionaries at District and State level trained on MDM-MIS portal during a two days State level workshop.

Monitoring and Evaluation

• District Level Vigilance & Monitoring Committee constituted in all the districts but no meeting held.
• 45% schools inspected, however MME utilization is 96%.
• Annual and monthly data entry completed for all the schools till December, 2013.

Emergency Medical Plan

• The Phone no. of Local PHC has been given to all schools.
• Disaster Management Unit has been formed in all schools with the NSS volunteers to face any kind of untoward situation.
• The Local guardians, PRI bodies, etc. have been requested to monitor the implementation of the programme in the schools on daily basis to avoid any kind of untoward incident.
Issues Identified by 5th JRM (18th-26th June, 2013)
No specific discussion on MDM in SMC meetings in most of the schools.
Delay in release of funds from State to school. Large quantities of food grains require proper
storage bin during rainy season. Lack of awareness among stakeholders at various
levels Poor coverage under School Health Programme Excessive use of firewood for cooking Non-standardized servings and recipes
