Rome, June 8-9, 2018 I MICS 2018 I3
WELCOMEADDRESSResearch, innovation, interdisciplinary approach: these are the major pillars of MICS.
MICS 2018 is a two-day symposium focused specifically on the newest issues of minimally and ultra-minimally invasive and robotic mitral, tricuspid, atrial fibrillation surgery and less conventional catheter based mitral procedures.
This Conference is organized by the Mitral Academy, a cultural association whose goals include a common work platform dedicated to the progress gained in the medical-scientific field by mitral valve surgery.
MICS 2018 is addressed for cardiac surgeons, interventional and non-interventional cardiologists, anesthesiologists and perfusionists involved in minimally invasive mitral valve surgery, ranging from basic diagnosis to advanced treatment.
World Opinion Leaders within this subject have been invited as Faculty to share their experience with the audience.

THEMITRALACADEMYAN INSTITUTION FOR MITRAL EXCELLENCEThe process of repairing the mitral valve is complex and requires a long learning and training curve. In addition, a surgeon’s performance may vary over time. This is the reason why a continuous monitoring and mentoring system is necessary. The Mitral Academy therefore arises out of the need to establish a real ‘cultural platform’, a meeting point for heart surgeons ‘keen on’ mitral surgery, where sharing mitral culture at a different level can be possible. The Mitral Academy is made up by international cardiac surgeons, opinion leaders who will use a formal – theoretical and practical – teaching system, at different periods of the year.Fellowships are foreseen as integral parts of the practical-theoretical training course.
