INTRODUCING 3D MAMMOGRAPHY AT ARTESIAGENERAL HOSPITAL

Artesia General Hospital is proud to offer mammograms using the latest, most accurate technology—all ina comfortable environment.

The Genius™ 3D Mammography™ examprovides better, earlier breast cancer detectionthan traditional 2D mammography alone,which means fewer false positives, additionalscreenings and biopsies. In conventional 2DMammography, overlapping tissue is a leadingreason why small breast cancers may bemissed and normal tissue may appearabnormal, which leads to unnecessarycallbacks for additional screening.

A Genius exam includes a three­dimensionalmethod of imaging that can greatly reduce thetissue overlap effect. During the exam, an X­ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over the breast, taking multipleimages. A computer then converts the images into a stack of thin layers, allowing the radiologist to reviewthe breast tissue one layer at a time.
