An exploration into an ongoing research project looking at a new approach to the teaching and learning of algebra. The research concerns some of the effects of using technology, specifically the ATM software Grid Algebra. The session will include:• Reporting back on why we undertook the project and

what this looked like.• An introduction to the Grid Algebra software.• An opportunity to reflect on your own teaching of

algebra and any questions this may raise regarding your future practice.

• Dave came into school to work with departments and everyone agreed to trial it.

• We introduced algebra with grid algebra• Taught a series of lessons• Video of lessons• Met up to discuss findings, analyse video, look

at work• Observing each other teaching with the

software• Dave to observe/ video/ interview students
