More popular than the college canteen is the kiosk inthe campus run by brothers Irfan and Usman. This kioskis famous for its delectable masala maggi (R20), tea(R5) and Bread Pakora (R7). What’s quite popular inthe canteen are the cheese cutlets with mince sauce(R20 for 2 pieces). Chhole Bhature (R18 per plate) isalso quite a hit here. In the beverage section, thecanteen has only regular soft drinks to offer. A luckyday may get you some fruit beer here, which is availablesometimes.Where: SRCC, University of Delhi, North Campus

The LSR café is nicely done with red andyellow colour bricks, giving it a very youthfullook. They even have a projector screen in thecafé that is often used for special screenings.The menu has a large range of fare thatincludes pastries, tart, choco pie, cold coffee,Rajma Chawal, Masala Dosa and cheesemacaroni. Some of the best selling disheshere are Keema Dosa (R30), Chicken TikkaRoll (R35) and Shahi Paneer with LachaParantha (R30). The stu-dents have the choice to either sitinside or outside the canteendepending on the weather. The canteen sells reasonably priced food as comparedto most of the eateries around the area. One can have afull meal under R30. The canteen is famous for its non-veg fare like chicken biryani (R30) and chickensandwich (R20). Besides this, the canteen also offersboth veg and chicken chowmein, cheese macaroni(R15), Chana-Kulcha (R15) and Chhole Bhature (R20).“The food at the canteen is really good and reasonable.We love the cheese macaroni at the canteen, as theynever compromise on the cheese,” says Shubhi Goyal,a second year student.Where: Dyal Singh College, Lodhi Road

The canteen at D school has students comings fromnot only North Campus but South Campus as well. Thedeep-fried mutton cutlet (R18) and the mutton dosa(R26) are the most popular items served in thiscanteen. This is one of the few canteens in Delhi University that serves non-vegetarian food. TheSamosas (R5) served here are supposed to be among the best in Delhi University. ShahiPaneer and Naan (R35) is the hottest selling item here. Students also flock to the canteen forits Rajma Chawal and spicy chowmein. Students come here for a pocket-friendly meal thattastes like ghar ka khaana (homemade food). TheSpic Macay Canteen is popular for the sprouts laddoo(laddoo made using condensed milk and sprouts,sugar). The vegetarian thali (R30), complete withdal, sabzi and chapattis, has many takers here. Theyalso sell milkshakes, lassi, and lemonades, amongother things. In this season, you can refresh yourselfwith mango shakes when here. This canteen is an ideal place for both chit-chat sessions and chaat. Well, the canteen isknown throughout South Campus for itschaat corner that serves Aloo Chaat (R20),Pani Puri (R15), Bhelpuri (R15) and steamedsweet corn (R20). A dish that is quite famousin this canteen is the masala potatoes thatare served with a crunchy filling (R20).Students here also love to have a plate ofRajma Chawal (R20). When here, go for theSouth Indian fare, especially the Idli and Vada(R20 for 2 pieces). The health conscious canhave a glass of fresh fruit juice here. The canteen at this college is like a mini food courtwhere you will find everything from Indian to Chinese toItalian. Some of the Indian specialties include ChholeBhature (R18 a plate) and Rajma Chawal (R17). Theyeven have a chaat corner that sells Papri Chaat, DahiBhalla and Gol Gappe. Other hot selling items at thecanteen are cheese macroni (R14), Kala Khatta (R20),momos, Chinese chaat and fresh juice. “I love the factthat they serve fresh fruit juice at the canteen andmaintain high levels of hygiene,” says Isha Gupta, a 3rdyear student. The moment you walk into the café here, you wouldfeel you’ve stepped into a Kolkata coffee house. Withwicker chairs, bone china plates and fork and knives,this is the ideal place to unwind and catch up on yourfavourite novel. When here, go for the mince cutlets(R10 per piece), served with chutney. You can alsoorder for buttered toast for R5 with it. Other favouriteswith students here are the cheese scrambled egg(R20), chicken momos (R40), Maggi with mince(R37), and chicken curry with rice (R40).
