LifeGem presents:The lifegem process

Your LifeGem diamond can be created using the carbon extracted from cremated remains…

… but LifeGem is also able to create your LifeGem diamond using carbon extracted from a lock of hair.

1.00 ct diamond = 0.2 grams. Only a relatively small amount of carbon (i.e. lock of hair) is necessary to create your personal LifeGem.

The ashes or the lock of hair is being placed into a crucible, which will be identified and registered by using the LifeGem ID that has been assigned to your order.

The crucible is being placed into a furnace (containing the ashes/lock of hair). Within a vacuum environment the carbon is being extracted, purified and graphitized using heat (3000 C) and chlorides.

Now LifeGem has the purified and graphitized carbon available to use for creating your LifeGem diamond.

After purifying and graphitizing the carbon, the carbon has to be grinded in very small particles.

The carbon is being placed into a diamond press. This press uses high pressure (50kBar) and high temperature (1200-1400C) to create your rough LifeGem diamond (HPHT method).

After opening the diamond press a cupola (divided in 4 quarters) becomes visible. Each quarter is being removed.

In the center of the cupola a triangular structure becomes visible (divided in 5 elements). Each element is being removed.

In the center of the triangular structure, the ceramics become visible after all elements of the triangle have been removed.

Carefully the ceramics are being removed by hand. In the centre of the ceramics a little metal cylinder becomes visible (metal catalyst).

The metal cylinder is being placed in an acid which dissolves the metal. Your rough LifeGem diamond has grown within the metal catalyst.

After all metal has been dissolved, your rough LifeGem diamond becomes available.

The next stage: cutting and polishing your rough LifeGem diamond.

Some results after cutting and polishing a rough. A beautiful round cut blue and an eye catching round cut yellow.

But also other shapes and colors (varying regarding shade) are available…

The LifeGem process is being supported by a state of the art tracking and tracing system. The 16 digit LifeGem ID finally is being engraved into the girdle of your LifeGem diamond.

Some LifeGem diamonds set in a white golden ring, accompanied by several natural diamonds. But also pendants and other pieces of jewelry can hold your LifeGem diamond...

LifeGem has the honor to create 3 Beethoven LifeGems©: 3 blue LifeGem diamonds created with the use of carbon extracted from a lock of hair coming from the world famous composer Mr. Ludwig von Beethoven.
