• A verifiable statement of relevant experience – not more than 250 words – and contact details of a referee or

Training qualifications

• All CIEH registered trainers must hold a valid training qualification

• CIEH minimum requirement is PTC/TSP

Unit 1 – Emergency First Aid in the Workplace:

• roles and responsibilities of a first aider

• assessing an incident

• unconscious casualties

• cardiopulmonary resuscitation

• choking

• external bleeding

• shock

• minor injuries

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace:

• secondary survey

• injuries to bones, joints and muscles

• suspected head and spinal injuries

• chest injuries

• burns and scalds

• eye injuries

• sudden poisoning

• anaphylaxis

• major illnesses

Assessment:

• Participate in all 5 assessment activities

• Complete two test papers

• Demonstrate competence in first aid procedures for the management of a casualty:

- Who is unresponsive and breathing normally (recovery position)

- Who is unresponsive and not breathing normally (cardiopulmonary resuscitation )

- With external bleeding and is in shock (including a secondary survey)

• Complete and sign the Candidate Assessment Booklet

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

• Monitoring:

- Internal verification

- External verification

- Sampling of portfolios

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

• Trainer registration:

- Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work or

- Doctor registered with the GMC

- Nurse registered with the NMC

- Paramedic registered with the HCPC

• Training and/or assessing in line with NOS 9 – Assess Learner Achievement or working towards – start within one year, complete in two

• CIEH to provide assessor courses

• Previous experience of delivering FAW or EFAW

• Maintenance of a portfolio of knowledge and experience

• 3 day qualification

• Ofqual regulated -3 credits

• Requalification – after 3 years may reduce to 12 hours

• Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work – 1 day MCQ and 2 practical –different to current assessment
