January 2020
Electronic Prescribing of Controlled
Substances (EPCS)Good news! The recent NCPDP upgrade means that we are almost
ready to enroll providers in EPCS. This has been a commonly
requested upgrade, so we are pleased to provide it. Our clinician
informaticists are currently being enrolled and testing the workflow.
The enrollment process is straightforward, but time-intensive; it
requires face to face confirmation of identity with the clinician and
their photo ID, and installation of the EPCS app on a mobile phone (a
limited number of keyfobs will be available).
With the current projects going on at Children’s, it will take the
Informatics team some time to complete this enrollment work. We can
accelerate the work by attending department meetings or other forums
to present the process and complete enrollment with you. We hope
you’ll invite us to join your team’s meetings, so we can bring this
powerful new feature to everyone as soon as possible.
St. Paul Anesthesia Going Live in the EMR The Anesthesia Electronic Record will go live for the St. Paul campus
on January 21st! The Minnetonka and Minneapolis campus will follow
in the upcoming months.
The move from paper to electronic charting will provide a more
readable copy of the Anesthesia Record and provide the information
earlier to all clinicians. Once finalized, Anesthesia Records can be
found under the Documents section of the Workflow Summary or
