Why Lima, Peru?

Located in West-Central Peru

The capital and largest city of Peru

Home to 1/3 of Peru’s population and the 16th most populous city in the world

Undeveloped or even missing infrastructure coupled with poverty in poorer areas and slums

“Pueblos Jovenes”

The nickname of vast shanty towns surrounding Lima and other cities of Peru

Limited access to health care services and medical equipment

What will we be doing?

Two week service project August 8th-22rd, 2015

Providing volunteer services at various hospitals, locally and in surrounding areas. A few partners:

Shalom Clinic in Pamplona Alta (*70% pediatrics) Peru Children’s Charity in Carabayillo

We will mainly be serving a population of children with disabilities in the city of Lima, Peru

Equipment

Evaluations for distribution of equipment e.g. wheelchair fittings

Patient Care

Work under supervision of PTsConduct patient evaluations and treatmentsUtilize limited available resourcesCommunicate through non-verbal communication
