Lois Lowry
Born on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Birthday is March 20th 1937. Her parents were Robert and Katherine
Hammersberg. She is has an older sister named Helen and a
younger brother named Jon. Lowry lived all over the world because her father
was an army dentist. Growing up Lowry liked to be on her own in a “world
of books.” Her dream as a child was to write books
professionally.

Lois went to Brown University but dropped out after sophomore year when she got married to a naval officer at the age of 19.
After having five children Lois returned to college and got her bachelors degree.
She continued on to graduate school. Lowry’s writing career took off after grad School. Lowry’s books center around one central Theme: the importance of human connections.
