KA-CARE is new city competition for a 6400 hectare site located 20 kilometers west of the Capital city Riyadh. The proposed master plan maximizes the potential of two geographic features of the site, the wadis and Tweig Escarpment to create a visionary and sustainable city that interlace the urban and natural environments. The new city will accommodate a total population of 300,000 and will become a research-focused, net-zero carbon and environmentally sustainable prototype that transforms the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia into a global leader in renewable energy. It is also envisioned as a model for sustainable urban growth that promotes resiliency and environmentally-conscious living in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
