June 3, 2018 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
In our modern !mes, symbol can seem to have lost its value.
The most recognizable "signs" are ones we see on the road or
the branding in adver!sements. The logos for major companies
don't do much more than perk our interest or disdain. They
surely don't deliver on their promises for our lives to be
happier, healthier, and easier.
On this feast of Corpus Chris!, we hear the account of the Last
Supper. This was Passover, an ancient sign of the covenant of
Moses. The Hebrew people celebrated God's providen!al care
for His people. To the listening disciples, Jesus makes a very
bold claim. "This is my blood of the covenant." At the !me of
the first Passover -- the redemp!on of the Hebrew people
from slavery to the Egyp!ans -- the blood of the sacrificial lamb
was spread on the lintels of the doorpost. Tomorrow, some of
the disciples would witness the blood of the new covenant
spread across the wood of the cross.
Christ's Body and Blood are more than a sign. They are a
sacrament. In the sacrament, the sign makes real what it
signifies. More than ritual, a sacrament enacts truth of the
covenantal love of God and His promise of fidelity. It's a
promise God keeps. The same bread and wine of that first Holy
Thursday liturgy becomes -- throughout the centuries and un!l
the end of !me -- the very Body and Blood of Christ. On this
feast, we celebrate the unfailing covenantal love of our God.
As you partake in the Eucharist today, and next Sunday, and
the Sunday a$er that, remember that you receive neither a
meaningless sign nor an empty offer. You receive God Himself,
as He fulfills His promise to remain with us always.

Adorer’s Corner
Feast of Corpus Chris!
If you wish to penetrate the depths of the
mystery of the Eucharist you need to
contemplate the Last Supper. See Jesus
who knows that He will soon be separated
from the body of His humanity and yet wishes to be united to
us forever. Contemplate the love by which He ins!tutes this
Sacrament, which permits Him to be corporeally and forever
united to mankind.
-Divine In!macy
Give honor and glory to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament by

Holy Trinity Catholic School
A Special “Thank You” to Holy Trinity’s Band Director
Alumni con!nue to succeed as they leave Holy Trinity Catholic School and it is becoming more and
more evident who is to thank for their success. The Holy Trinity staff has con!nued to foster a
love for learning, whether that is in science, world language, or music. Mrs. Moroz, the music
teacher and band director, has inspired students for the last 10 years to pursue their musical
capabili!es inside and outside of the classroom.
2016 graduate Marissa Gonzalez recalls, “Mrs. Moroz helped me develop my love for music and
encouraged me to con!nue music a#er I le# Holy Trinity. She prepared all of us for the rigor of a
high school band program and gave us the tools we needed to succeed at the next level”. Marissa
Gonzalez is currently a sophomore flu!st in the Wind Ensemble at Downers Grove North and was
recently selected to be a captain for the flute sec!on for 2018 marching band season.
A current freshman, Tessa Arenz, reflects on how Mrs. Moroz influenced her to con!nue her
musical career. “Without the guidance of Mrs. Moroz, I wouldn’t have con!nued
band in high school. In the Holy Trinity band, I was able to grow musically in ways
that many of my friends who went to public middle schools were unable to. Our
small band size allowed us to work with students of all skill levels, allowing the
younger students to learn from older, more experienced students”. Tessa Arenz is
a clarine!st in the Downers Grove North Wind Ensemble, alongside her sister
Jozie Arenz who plays the euphonium and trombone. They were both also chosen
to be captains for their marching band sec!ons.
Jozie Arenz states, “Mrs. Moroz pushed us every day to be be%er musicians and
be%er people. She has had a tremendous impact on my passion for music and
inspired me to share my talents by helping others as a sec!on captain and giving
lessons to younger students”. Thank you, Mrs. Moroz, for encouraging, preparing,
and suppor!ng students as they leave Holy Trinity and enter the next phases of
their musicianship. Your impact on the students does not go unno!ced and we all
thank you for your dedica!on to the Holy Trinity music program!
