THE PROJECT
Green City Kigali is planning a new sustainable neighbourhood for low and middle-income residents in Kinyinya Hill. First-of-its-kind in Africa, the sustainable and aordable district becomes a game changer for urbanization in Rwanda, the region, and the continent. There are no similar projects in the region so far, which is why awareness raising on the principles of sustainable urban development is of critical importance for the successful implementation of the Green City Kigali - and its subsequent replication in other cities.
“Green City Kigali will set new standards for sustainable urban development in Rwanda. It will serve as a catalyst for change in Kigali and beyond.”Hubert Ruzibiza, Chief Executive Ocer, Fonerwa.

OUR APPROACH
The Development Parameters derive from a spatial planning approach to the site that involves integrating sustainable systems with placemaking. This raises the overall social economic and environmental value of the community and ultimately creates a higher quality of life for residents. Further details of sustainable systems are contained in the Feasibility Study.
The residents of Kininya Hill should be able to enjoy the social and economic benefits of urbanization while minimizing ecological footprints.
