Backed by the success of Singapore Maths
Inspire Maths textbooks are based on My Pals are Here and aligned
to the English 2014 National Curriculum. My Pals are Here has been
critically reviewed and endorsed by Singapore’s Ministry of Education and
is currently used by 85% of primary schools in Singapore.
- Singapore’s approach to teaching and learning mathematics, supported
by carefully designed resources and continuing professional development,
is now recognized globally as one of the most impactful ways to teach and

Inspire Maths Resources
The teaching cycle for Inspire Maths begins with teacher-led
explanation of a concept, leading into guided practice in groups
using Pupil Textbooks, followed by independent practice using
Practice Books. Formative assessment can occur throughout the
teaching cycle during exploratory discussions, group activities
and practice tasks.

Inspire Maths School Improvement –
Professional Development
Professional development for school improvement is at
the heart of the Inspire Maths programme. Teachers
and senior leaders are fully supported through five days
of high quality face-to-face professional development
by UK leading experts in the Singapore approach to
mathematics.
The five days of intensive support for the Year 1 teacher
and senior leader from the school will:
• Introduce the approach to teaching and learning mathematics in Singapore
• Improve teachers’ mathematics subject knowledge
• Develop teacher pedagogical understanding
• Exemplify effective teaching with Inspire Maths through the spiral approach,
teaching to mastery
• Consider how to embed conceptual understanding and procedural knowledge
for deep learning
• Support teachers in planning for implementation and delivery
• Provide opportunities to engage with and share outcomes of classroom-based tasks
building a professional learning community
