would be happy to advise you.
1K ink
1-component-inks are preferably used on polymers with surfaces which
can be dissolved with dissolvent. With the evaporation of the dissolvent a
physical drying is obtained.
2K ink
For a higher mechanical and chemical consistency it is worth using a
2-component-ink. During the chemical curing, the 2 components (Ink and
hardener) react with one other and result in a never dissolving ink film.
Background knowledge: “Indication for drying of 2K-ink” (p. 20)

MORLOCK GL-Inks
As a system supplier for the pad printing industry we also sell inks, which
are suitable for printing onto glass and ceramics. This special ink has to be
cured after printing at a set temperature for a set time.
References of these GL-inks are e.g. our M 709 GL ( p. 6)
M 927 OT ( p. 9) or our M 908 high gloss ink ( p. 11)
MORLOCK S-Inks
Our S-inks have the highest abrasion resistance and are suitable for appli-
cations for high physical stress e.g. in the mobile phone industry, in the
EDV-area, in the house-hold or in the automobile industry.
Which ink is suitable for which material can be found in the list „Materials
to print on” ( p. 14)
For any questions concerning inks and material to print onto do not hesitate
to contact our application department ( „AWT“, page 20). We can on
request do adhesion tests or feasibility studies.

MORLOCK High-Gloss-Ink
Our new MORLOCK High-Gloss-Ink with higher brilliance combines the
characteristics of a two-component ink with the advantages of a single
component ink.
This means: The hardener is already integrated in the ink, the hardener
reaction is released at min. 140 °C. You save costs for ink and working time
through the unlimited ink cup time.
The MORLOCK High-Gloss-Ink is available in CMYK and white. Special
colour shades and ink matching are available on request.
MORLOCK UV-Inks
Under UV-radiation the ink is cured immediately – in this way long drying
times are avoided. Further steps on the printed parts are immediately pos-
sible.
The immediate drying allows for a direct test result without falsification of
the drying process or change of colour shade.
By using ink without dissolvent and curing with UV-light you no longer have
toxic evaporation as with normal drying.
More UV-inks available on demand.

MH.7N1 activates only at app. 20°C, to be used for outdoor products, no yellowing, prolongs the ink cup pot life
MH.7GL Possibility of oven or air drying, very water resistance, but has low dissolvent resistance
MH.7GL2 Drying in the oven at 100°C to a max. 120°C, very good water- and dissolvent stability, also suitable for metals without iron (brass etc.) better resistance in dishwashers than MH.GL
MH.7OT activates at temperatures over 140°C (20 min), drying by flame possible, disguised
system has unlimited ink cup pot life.
The suitability of 2K-crosslinking components for the ink can be found in
the corresponding ink list ( p. 5-11)
MORLOCK cleaner
The modern MORLOCK cleaner range. Here you
are able to source a suitable cleaner for each
application:
HM.MP/V very gentle cleaner for incorrect prints
MR.II danger classification A II, to be used as manual cleaner
MR.III danger classification A III, to be used as manual cleaner and suitable to K-washing machines
MR.4 danger classification A III with an extremely high cleaning strength for the MORLOCK K-washing machines
MR.UN.2 ultrasonic cleaner
MORLOCK thinner
Our thinners work as dissolvent’s, with which the ink is mixed so as to
be ready for printing. The dissolvent is responsible for retaining the com-
ponents of the ink liquid. They are also responsible for the drying times
through their speed of evaporation and for the adhesion on dissolvable
materials.
The thinner suitable for the application ink can be found in the relative ink
list ( p. 5-11).12

Bonding
1. Cross cutting test
a.) Make a cross cut until you reach the base using the relevant multi-cutter
b.) Use a hand brush to brush 5 times backwards and forwards in the diagonal direction
or use adhesive tape to remove any loose parts
c.) Use an illuminated lens to evaluate the machined position
The edges of the cuts are completely smooth. No bits have been chipped away from the coating.
The coating along the edges of the cuts has been eit-her completely chipped away or chipped off in wide strips and/or the coating has been completely or par-tially chipped away from individual parts. The chipped areas amount to between 15% and 35% of the overall part.
Small slivers have been chipped off of the inside of the cross cuts. The chipped areas amount to at least 5% of the overall part.
The coating along the edges of the cuts has been chip-ped away in wide strips and/or the coating has been completely or partially chipped away from individual parts. The chipped areas amount to between 35% and 65% of the overall part.
The coating along the edges of the cuts and/or the cut-ting points of the cross lines have been chipped away. The chipped areas amount to between 5% and 15% of the overall part.

Cross cutting resultsComparing it to the fol-lowing images and using various parameters will classify the degree of bonding.
The cross cutting test is a simple method of evalua-ting the bonding of single or multi-coating systems that can be implemented quickly.

2. Tape-test
With the tape-test you attempt to remove the
ink from the material with sticky tape. If the ink
remains on the material you can be sure of a
good adhesion.
3. Fingernail test
Another test is the fingernail test. Here you try
to scratch the ink from the material. If the ink
remains on the material this also assures of a
good adhesion.

Rule of thumb for drying two-component ink:
All details are approximate and may vary depen-
ding on the external conditions!
The resistance of the printed ink film can only be
initially tested after it has cooled down comple-
tely to room temperature.
You must ensure that 2-component ink is not
used and dried at a temperature lower than 15°C,
as the chemical hardening process will be “fro-
zen” and this will have a negative effect on the
ink bonding as well as the resistance.
10°C temperature increase doubles the reac-
tion speed!
The complete ink film (i.e. the entire part, inclu-
ding the sub-surface) must in this case be heated
to this temperature in this case.
Starting with a drying time of 5 – 7 days at a
room temperature of 20°C (full reaction of the ink
with the hardener)
20°C = 120 h (5 days)
30°C = 60 h (2,5 days)
40°C = 30 h (1,25 days)
50°C = 15 h
60°C = 7,5 h
70°C = 3,75 h
80°C = 112,2 min
90°C = 56,1 min
100°C = 28 min
110°C = 14 min
120°C = 7 min

MORLOCK ink department
Highest requirements of exact implementation on carefully chosen colour
shades are getting more and more important. In our modern ink department
our well-trained staff can create special colour shades for your individual
needs as well as on common colour shade patterns. These special mixers
are made exactly as your samples and can always be repeated for you.
Additionally you have the possibility to mix your own special colour sha-
des by using the MORLOCK base ink mixing system, which consists of 12
base inks. You can obtain the mixing formula (MORLOCK Mix) which has
been appropriately checked in practice to current colour shade patterns
following Pantone®, HKS, RAL, NCS etc.

MORLOCK seminars
The most secured route to professional pad printing
MORLOCK has been holding pad printing seminars for many years. The fre-
quency of these seminars and the positive feedback by many participants
confirm the quality of personalised training.
With two days of intensive theoretical and practical training, MORLOCK
seminars have been popular for many years. Seminars are held in the trai-
ning centre of MORLOCK GmbH in Dornstetten. The price is inclusive of
training documents, afternoon snacks and dinner. Overnight accommo-
dation can be reserved on request. Minimum number of participants per
seminar: 8 persons
MORLOCK offer two types of seminars:
1. Basic seminar “Pad printing and colour“
Duration: 2 days
Dates: see Website www.morlock.de
Price: on request
You will be given a comprehensive overview of the principles of pad prin-
ting. All individual factors that affect pad printing, e.g. pad, cliché, inks,
printing machine, ambient conditions, properties of the material to be prin-
ted, plastic identification, etc., are dealt with intensively. Extensive know-
ledge regarding colour composition, their properties and their ready-to-
print settings is explained, which also includes information about the effect
and use of different colour additives.
Different procedures for identifying and pre-treating plastics are explained.
This knowledge clarifies the selection of colour types. Fundamental know-
ledge about the colour standards helps the participants in dealing with the
different colour systems, e.g. RAL, HKS, Pantone mixing system, Morlock
Mix.
The training also includes a topic relating to the safe and efficient handling
of inks so as to optimise operational safety. By way of discussions on pad
printing applications and training for colour identification, we will illustrate
the correlations and interactions in pad printing.
Apart from the theoretical training, you will also do practical exercises with
inks and operate printing machines.
2. Personalised seminar Machine operation
Duration: 2 days
Dates: by agreement
Price: on request
Customer-specific seminars that specifically deal
with one or multiple types of machines.
These seminars are also classified into theoreti-
cal and practical sessions. Contents and dates of
these seminars will be agreed upon individually.
