EVENT CALENDAR

12th December Christmas Run (Club Run) Organised by Earnie & Marg

January

NO RUN THIS MONTH

PRESIDENTS REPORT We missed our first run for a long time so have not heard how it went, I have a mum not in the best of health so we spent the day at Matamata. Been making steady progress on the Mk3 and it is becoming increasingly urgent, as only few months left until we head south to Twizel. Only had a handful of members contact in regards to a suggested meeting for the convention so will hold a meeting at the Xmas Party. Our Mk1 Zephyr is now finally on the home straight, from what we have been told Vero has released a lot more money to fix the car properly as they should have done at the start. Appears a lot of blaming going on at the moment between all parties but the main thing is we get our car back repaired and as good as new. Bit of advice, don’t back down and stick to your guns, we do after all pay insurance for a reason, just be prepared to wait (over 7 months) as we have to get the car returned to pre accident state. As you will see in the mag we have decided to put our Mk1’s up for sale, we have a project here that I have been itching to start for the last two years and now is the time to make it happen. Plan is to have finished for the next North Island convention and ideally for the next Labour Weekend run. We will be stripping down three Mk2 Consuls for anyone looking for parts to get this project under way. Don’t forget to make contact with Ernie & Margaret if you are attending the Xmas Party, as always a great time to get together before the silly season really starts, our next club run won’t be until February. Any members planning a small run in January don’t forget to drop an email to members who may be interested in joining the group. Take care on the roads and catch up at the Xmas Party, Mike.

SHERIFFS REPORT We left home in the rain to a destination on the north shore, arriving at a really neat market (cheers Deputy Dog!) Then followed lunch at Grant & Janeanes place. Piggy only had a lite lunch this time around, thanks for another enjoyable weekend.

THE FORD FERRET REPORT

The F.F. just happened to be passing Flo Nuku's house the other day and lo and behold, what did he spy with his little beady eye. Oh , Yes, here was a story in the making. Sneak, sneak, sneak, holding his trusty instamatic camera, creeping from flax bush to flax bush in true paparazzi style he got near to his targets. Yes, yes, yes, here was Dave Tamihere (Mk3) Bryan Whitley (Mk2 ute,) and Spencer Jamieson mk3 pushing Heniree, (note the spelling , pronounced with a French accent) the 1955 Consul out of the garage. They pulled and prodded, opened the bonnet, uttered hmmm, and gasps of aargh, lots of ooohs. They got in and out , closed the doors and generally went over " Heniree" (french accent , the language of love.) with a fine toothcomb, so to speak. After photos were taken, they all nodded in agreement with each other and drove off in their respective cars. NOW, what does all this mean. 1. With Dave Tamihere in attendance , one wonders if "Heniree" is to be the centre of attention in his now retired life. Is he bored to death after 1 week and needs a new project??????????? 2. With Bryan Whitley in attendance and after chasing around all over Australia trying to find the elusive Consul Ute is he now having a second look what is really in our own backyard????????? 3. With Spencer Jamieson in attendance, one really wonders what is taking place behind the scenes in his life. Is there something happening here. Does he have some top secret information that the rest of NZ is not privy to??????????? Now the Ford Ferret knows, but at this stage until there are further concrete evidential developements " THE FORD FERRET LIPS ARE SEALED"

OUR LAST OUTING

The day started in Hamilton with a little rain that slowly became heavy as we headed for Huntly. First pick up was five Zcars ( four Mk3's & 1 MK2) and then off to the Bombay's. Next pick up saw the group grow to eleven that's if I counted correctly and guess what - no more rain!!! Pete and Donna's Mk3 Zodiac Estate has had a fresh coat of paint and really looks the part - you must be as "Proud as a bloated Lamb" (sorry about the family joke, it dates back to when my grandson was three and he was REALLY REALLY proud of himself). Its a saying that has always made us smile. It was an awesome sight as our convoy headed along the motorway for Greenhithe, with lots of rubber necker's along the way. Ernie did us proud by taking us right to the Market Hall . The Ladies did their thing and the men did theirs, (?) like stand out side on the footpath and talk cars. The day just kept getting hotter. Grant and Janeane Davis offered their home for lunch so once again it was on the road in convoy. We arrived at the Davis' to be greeted by home made bacon and egg pie (yum) tea or coffee, wine and beer. Such great hospitality from our friends in Auckland. Bloody awesome and we can't thank them enough. The views from their balcony had us all aghast - it was so amazing , Auckland harbour views, sky tower, and other amazing vistas - such incredible sights. A meeting was held to sort out the Easter trip south to Twizel, group crossing etc, more to be discussed at the Xmas party 12th Dec at Ernie and Margaret's ( remember to bring something for the food hamper to be given to charity ) Presents for the kids only.

Grant asked if we were interested in having a look at his MK1 convertible, it did not take long for the boys to agree and we headed down the road to check out this dream machine. What a beauty Tangerine orange - wow did it look hot, painted in the latest water base paints, I kid you not!!! Water base paint that had such a shine you could see our Sherrifs knobbly knee's, oh thats right he was not there, must have been mine. Your car is a real credit to you both and we'll be looking forward to seeing it on the road. Our trip home was a very pleasant run battling the Auckland traffic , so we kept to the out side lane and passed them all in true Zcar style. Ernie and Margaret lead the way, that Mk3 Zodi took a bit to keep up with. Great to catch up with so many of you and look forward to our next get together in December. Cheers Rod & Liz

mIDDLE OF THE

ROAD

A businessman walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. He says he is going to Europe on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000. The bank officer says the bank will need some kind of security for such a loan. So the businessman hands over the keys to a Rolls-Royce parked on the street in front of the bank. Everything checks out, and the bank agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. An employee drives the Rolls into the bank's underground garage and parks it there. Two weeks later, the businessman returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest , which comes to $15.41. The loan officer says, We are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is; why would you bother to borrow $5,000? The businessman replied: Where else in New York can I park my car for two weeks for 15 bucks?

Late one night, a burglar broke into a house that he thought was empty. He tiptoed through the living room but suddenly he froze in his tracks when he heard a loud voice say: "Jesus is watching you." Silence returned to the house, so the burglar crept forward again. "Jesus is watching you," the voice boomed again. The burglar stopped dead again. He was frightened. Frantically, he looked all around. In a dark corner, he spotted a bird cage and in the cage was a parrot. He asked the parrot: "Was that you who said Jesus is watching me?" "Yes," said the parrot. The burglar breathed a sigh of relief, then he asked the parrot: "What's your name?" "Clarence," said the bird. "That's a dumb name for a parrot," sneered the burglar. "What idiot named you Clarence?" The parrot said, "The same idiot who named the Rottweiller Jesus."

The first grade class comes in from recess, and Teacher asks Mary, "What did you do at recess?" Mary says, "I played in the sand box." Teacher says, "That's good. Go to the blackboard, and if you can write 'sand' correctly, I'll give you a fresh-baked cookie." She does, and gets a cookie.

Teacher asks Billy what he did at recess. Billy says, "I played with Mary in sand box." Teacher says, "Good. If you write 'Box" correctly on blackboard, I'll give you a fresh baked cookie." Billy does, and gets a cookie.

Teacher then asks Bernie Goldberg what he did at recess. He says, "I tried to play with Mary and Billy, but they threw rocks at me." Teacher says, "Threw rocks at you? That sounds like blatant racial discrimination. If you can go the blackboard and write 'blatant racial discrimination' I'll give you a cookie."
