This June, Mr. Rostek is climbing Mt. McKinley. His objective is to raise $1 for every foot climbed or $20,320 to
enhance extracurricular activities for Hamtramck Public Schools’ students, Early Childhood through Grade 12.
Extracurricular Activities Benefit Our Students
Academic achievement is enhanced by student participation in
extracurricular activities. These activities complement academics and
add to a student’s educational experience. They often provide the
much needed boost, helping students stay interested in school, increasing self esteem and encouraging success
in the classroom and beyond. This fund will support fees, transportation, and
supplies for Greening Project, Science Olympiad,
National Honor Society, Math & Reading Nights,
Student Council,
Journalism & Book
Clubs, Global Trade
Mission, DECA,
Reading Carnival,
Academic, Sports &
Leadership Camps, Field Trips and many other
valuable student activities.
Introducing Climbing for Success Hamtramck High School teacher, Mr. John Rostek has a personal
goal to climb the seven summits and he’d like to share that goal with HPS students. “I like to think there are actually eight summits - the eighth is reaching our own personal summit. I would love to help
the students of our schools reach their own personal summit!”
