Howdy Neighbors and Welcome to Spring!

Lots of folks have been looking forward to spring's arrival ever since theChristmas Eve snowstorm that hit much of Oklahoma. El Nino has kept asoutherly track of moisture that has continued to first pump ice and snow, and then in more recent days rain and a few thunderstorms across ourgreat state.

Saying that, it's good to see spring arrive, pastures green up, and wheatfields rapidly growing. After the extremely poor wheat crop of one yearago, there are lots of hopes for better production this year for those thatwill be harvesting the 2010 wheat crop in a matter of a couple of monthsfrom now.

The month of April is always a great month because of two very specialevents that keep us extremely busy at the Radio Oklahoma Network. Thefirst of these events is the Southern Plains Farm Show, being held thisyear April 15-17 at the State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.

This year's Farm Show is shaping up to be a tremendous event. TheRadio Oklahoma Network is excited for the third year to be giving awaythe Priefert 40-foot Round Pen that will be used in the horse trainingseminars that will be held twice daily during the show. In 2010,Scott Daily of Arkansas City, Kansas, will once again be working withhorses that are nominated by Radio Oklahoma Network listeners orreaders of our website. We have concentrated on “problem” horses thisyear, and I look forward to watching Scott work his magic twice a day atthe Southern Plains Farm Show.

While at the horse training seminars, you will be able to register for theRound Pen, and you can register at the RON booth in the Cox Pavilionduring the show.

There are many other great things to see and do at this year's SouthernPlains Farm Show, and we hope to see you and have a chance to say“howdy” April 15th through the 17th.

Later in the month, the 84th Annual Convention of the Oklahoma FFAAssociation will draw in thousands of young men and ladies in their Blueand Gold jackets to Downtown Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma FFAAssociation is considered one of the elite state programs in the US forFFA and agricultural education, and the show they put on each Aprilrivals the polish and excitement of the National FFA convention that isheld annually in Indianapolis.

The 2010 theme is Lead. Out. Loud, and State FFA President Amy Peel ofWetumka will be leading FFA members from all 77 counties in this twoday event.
