Liquefaction is a characteristic in soil. It causes the strength to drastically diminish. Liquefaction happens as a result of earthquakes. This is the primary factor in the massive demolition of earthquakes in history.

It is clear to see, that the bay area is a site of tectonic architectural consideration.

On this USGS map the yellow dots are quake epicenters. This data is compiled by the USGS from 1970-2003, so not all of the faults and earthquakes are ‘active’. There are 22 earthquakes between the mag-nitudes of 5.0-7.0 illustrated.
