By touching my Guru’s Lotus feet

I cleanse my mind (and then….)

I narrate the pure, infinite glory of Lord Ram,

To be blessed with the four fruits of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama,

Moksha)

I pray to you Hanuman to negate all my short comings and bless

me with strength, intelligence, knowledge and freedom from all my

sufferings

Jai Kapish Teen-Hoon Lok Uja-gar

Jai Hanuman! You have infinite wisdom and virtues,

Jai Kapisa (another name of Hanuman)! Your glory shines and is

known in all the three worlds (i.e earth, astral world, heavens)

2 Rama-doot Atu-lit Bal Dhaama

Anjani Putra PavanSut Naamaa

You are Lord Ram’s divine messenger with infinite strength;

You are the son of Anjana, named PavanSut (the Son of the Wind

God).

3 Maha-beer Bikram Baja-rangee

Kumati Nivaar Sumati Kay Sangee

You are brave; as strong as the mace (weapon of Indra)

You disperse our evil thoughts and help us be good

Kanchan Baran Biraaj Subesha

Kaa-Nun Kundal Kun-chit Kesa

Hatha Vajra Aur Dhvaja Vira-jay

Kaan-dhay moon-ja ja-nay-you sa-jay

Your physique is golden hue and you are wonderfully attired

You wear earings and have striking curly hair.

You carry in your hands a thunder bolt and a victory flag

You wear the sacred thread around your shoulders

6 Sankar soo-vana kay-sari Nandan

Tayj pratap maha jag vandan

You are Lord Siva incarnate and joy of Kesari (your foster dad)

Your shining glory is worshipped by everyone

7 Vidya-vaan goonee atee chatur

Ram kaaj kari-bay ko aatur

You are street smart and full of good qualities

You are always eager to fulfill Lord Ram’s tasks

8 Prabhoo cha-ritra suni-bay ko rasiya

Ram Lakhan Sita man Baseeya

You enjoy listening to Rama’s stories, his good character

Ram, Laxman and Sita are in your mind (and heart)

Sukshma roop dharee Siya-hee dikha-vaa

Vikat roop dhari lanka jarava

Bhima roop dharee asur sanghare

Rama-chandra kay kaaj sanvare

You appeared before Sita taking on a teeny-weeny form

You assumed a ferocious form and set Lanka on fire.

You took on a gigantic form to destroy the demons.

You thus helped Lord Ram fulfill his mission

11 Laa-yay Sanjeevan Lakhan Jiyayay

Shri Raghuvir Harashi oor layay

You brought the Sanjivani herb and revived Lakshman

You were so joyously embraced by Lord Ram

12 Raghu-pati Keen-hi bahut badayee

Tum muma priya Bharat-hi sam bhai

Lord Ram was effusive in your praise,

(He said) “You are as dear to me as my own brother Bharat.”

13 Sahas-tra badan tum-haro yash gaavay

Asa kahi Shripati kanth lagaave

Thousands of people will sing your praise

Saying this Lord Ram embraced you

Sanka-dik Brahma-adi Muneesa

Narad Sarad sahit Aheesa

Yum Kubayr Dig-paal Jahaa tay

Kavi kovid kahi(n) sakay kaha(n) tay

Sankak and the Sages, Gods like Brahma and Sages, Narad,

Goddess Sarawati with Aheesa (Mother of Nag Devtas)

Even Gods like Yama, Kuber, the Digpals (Lords of four directions),

the poets, and the scholars, cannot do justice to your glory

Tum oopkar Sugreev-ahin keenha

Ram mila-ay rajpad deenha

Tum-haro mantra Vibheeshan mana

Lankayshwar Bhay Sub jag jaana

You did a big favor to Sugreev

You introduced him to Lord Ram and he obtained kingship

Your recommendation was followed by Vibheeshan

He became the king of Lanka, that is universally known.

Yug sahastra yojan par Bhanu

Leel-yo taahi mudhoor phal janoo

You leaped upto the Sun which is a thousand miles away

Thinking it to be a luscious fruit

Prabhu mudrika maylee mukh mahee

Jaladhi laanghee gayi acharaj naahee

You took Lord Ram’s ring in your mouth and

leaped across (the ocean) – that is no surprise

20 Dur-gum kaaj jagat kay jaytay

Soogum anu-graha tum-haray taytay

Every difficult task of this world

Becomes effortless with your grace

21 Ram dwaa-ray tum rakh-vaaray,

Hoat na aagya binu pai-saray

You protect Lord Ram’s Abode

No one can reach Lord Ram without your permission

22 Sub sukh lahay tumharee saranaa

Tum rakshak kahoo ko darna

Whoever surrenders to you will have all the happiness

You are the protector, why fear?

23 Aapun tayj samharo aapay

Teenhon lok hank-tay ka(n)pay

Please contain your splendour

The three worlds tremble with fear

24 Bhoot pisach Nikat nahin aa-way

Mahaveer jab naam soonaa-way

Evil spirits stay away

By just hearing your name.

25 Nasay rog haraay sab peera

Japat nirantar Hanumant beera

O Veer (Brave) Hanuman, all diseases, pains, and sufferings are

eradicated by constantly reciting your name.

26 Sankat say Hanuman choodhaa-way

Man Karam Vachan d(h)yan jo lavay

You rescue us from all dangers

Once we remember you in our thoughts, deeds and words..

27 Sub par Ram tapas-vee raja

Tinkay kaaj sakal Tum saaja

Lord Ram was the supreme king

But you made all tasks easy for him.

28 Aur mano-rath jo koee lavay

Sohi amit jeevan phal paway

Whoever comes to you with pure desires

Find success

29 Char-o Yug par-taap tumhara

Hai per-sidh jagat ujee-yara

Your splendour reverbates through the four ages, (Satya, Treta,

Dwapar and Kali Yug);

your fame spreads worldwide.

30 Saadhu Sant kay tum Rakh-waa-ray

Asur nikandan Ram doola-ray

You protect the sages and saints

You are the slayer of demons and beloved of Lord Ram.

31 Ash-ta siddhee nav needhee kay daaata

Asa var-deen Jaana-kee mata

You can grant the power of eight siddhis and nine nidhis

You were blessed with this ability by Mother Janki.

32 Ram rasayan tumhare paasa

Sada raho Raghupati kay daasa

You hold the elixir of Shri Rama.

You will always remain Lord Ram’s go to guy.

33 Tumharay bhajan Ram ko pavay

J(a)nam j(a)nam kay dukh bisa-ravay

Singing your praise one finds Ram and escapes the sorrows of

countless lives.

34 Antha kaal Raghu-vir pur jaayee

Jahan janam Hari-Bhakht Kahayee

At the death-bed invocation of Ram’s name leads us to heaven

And every life thereafter, the faith in Ram persists

35 Aur Dave-taa Chitta na dhara-hee

Hanuma(n)th say hee sarva sukh kara-hee

There is no need to pray to other Gods

Prayer to Hanuman alone can provide us the ultimate happiness

36 Sankat katay mitay sab peera

Japat Nirantar Hanumat Balbeera

All the dangers are averted and sufferings diminished

For the one who does ‘japa’ of Hanuman, the Brave.

37 Jai Jai Jai Hanuman Gu-saahee(n)

Kripa Karahoo Guru-dave ki nyahin

My prayers to Hanuman,

Be my guru (teacher) and bless me.

Jo sat baar path kar kohee

Chootay-hee bandi maha sukh hohee

Jo yah padhay Hanuman Chaalisa

Hoyay siddhi saakhee Gaureesa

One who reads this (Chalisa) a thousand times

Is freed (from hurdles) and attains blissful happiness..

One who reads this Hanuman Chalisa

Is surely successful, Lord Shiva guarantees this.

40 Tulsidas sada hari cheera

Keejay Naath Hri-day main dayra

Rishi Tulsidas as the perpetual devotee of Lord Ram

Invokes “Lord Ram, please be forever in my heart.”

Pavan-Tanay sankat haran,

Mangal murt(h)i roop.

Ram Lakhan Sita sahit,

Hri-day basahoo sur bhoop.

Eeeti Shri Hanuman Chalisa Sampoorna

Dear Hanuman (son of Pavan), destroyer of all misfortunes, and

who represent all things auspicious

Please stay in my heart along with Lord Ram, Laxman and Sita.

Thus ends the respected Hanuman Chalisa Mother Janki bestowed the boon on Hanuman to utilize the Astha (8 powers) Siddhi 8 Siddhis: Anima,

Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamye, Isitwa & Vashitwa and Nav Niddhis (9 treasures)

9 Nidhis: Pajha, Mahapajha, Sankh, Makar, Kashap, Mukund, Nil, Kund & Varcch). You can grant to any one, any yogic power of

Eight Siddhis (power to become light and heavy at will) and Nine Nidhis (Riches,comfort,power,prestige,fame,sweet relationship

etc.)
