Liturgy: Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Readings: Isaiah 55:10-11, Romans 8:18-23 Gospel: Matthew 13:1-23 or 13:1-9 Message: The word of God is fruitful, powerful and meant to bring us to full union with God in heaven. The first reading and Gospel show that potency of the word of God. In fertile hearts, the Word can multiply exponentially, and it can bring about God’s will in our lives. The Word comes from God to us, in order that we might be brought to God. Can there be any greater gift?

Young Kateri suffered misunderstanding and ridicule due to her counter-cultural choices as an Algonquin-Mohawk to remain an unwed virgin for the love of Jesus Christ. Looking Out for Our Brothers and Sisters
As a follower of Christ, we are called to be our brother’s keeper. What does that mean?
1Corinthians 12:13, 26 reminds us; It was in one Spirit that all of us, whether Jew or Greek, slave or free, were baptized into one body. If one member suffers, all the members suffer; if one member is honored, all the members share their joy. When you view the news, read the paper or talk to a neighbor, there is so much suffering in the world. If we call ourselves the Body of Christ, we are to respond to the suffering; pray and reach out to those around you with love and understanding as division amplifies hurt and vulnerability which is masked by anger or mistrust. In things spiritual as well as things material, we are indeed
our brother’s keeper, we can turn suffering to joy and reveal Christ to others.
