returned to UC Berkeley and continued working at PPI

hired by Porfolio Property Investors in Oakland

born in Chicago

raised in the south suburb of Flossmoor

chose architecture as a career because of the potential to help people have a better life through the design of their habitatattended the University of California at Berkeley, with summer internships in information technology

attended Laney College in Oakland, with an internship in engineering

These four projects represent my journey to find ways to improve the quality of life for the urban being. This can be accomplished by improving the health of society

through the provision of beneficial spatial qualities and ecosystems in cities.I aim to design urban habitats.

A diagrid structure and asymmetrical elevator cores support a tower of “tondo” views through conic voids. Two floors are left open for outside air and wind to alleviate heat and force. I learned a rendering program called Maxwell, and built a seven-foot-tall model both by hand and using a laser cutter.

The students have to negotiate space with each other across a small section of the first water-front park project in Hong Kong. People coming by boat or bus can view other buildings through the tower’s voids that also serve as ventilation, program, and circulation.

Parameterization of a lobby wall in a New York cancer center by Lewis, Tsurumaki, Lewis leads to a taxonomy revealing the spatial potential of voids in many types of volumes.

Special care was taken to respect the façades of the welfare office and the film school. The main circu-lation occurs along Mission Street, where the parking and retail alley continues through to Ninth Street.

Bounded by a welfare office on Mission Street and a film school on Ninth Street, the site had a unique urban fabric featuring many alleys. A neighboring building to the east is residential and has plants growing around the outdoor fire stair.

The automatic door is studied as a system of conveyance. A shift in horizon from the world to the store is mediated by a motion detector with a half cone-shape range.

The building negotiates the existing lagoon and freeway by floating over the service road, with structure supported by freeway. The ramp allows program to cycle from public above to private. The stairway allows access to the observation area.

I analyzed the flight patterns of birds near Crissy Fields, a proposed observation station for atmospheric research. The core of the program interfaces with a pedestrian bridge at the confluence of paths between observation stations.

An overlay of the section cut over an early sketch is a representation method I would like to revisit.

The museum uses a simple material palette of wood and stained, reinforced concrete. The circulation meanders in two direction, one narrow path and one wide, ending in the compass gallery and hidden gallery. Various sized galleries break the street grid and offer parents the opportunity to bring their young children to the art museum. Its small size, accessibility, and plentiful seating accommodate the elderly and disabled. Clerestory lighting is controlled by the ratio of the wall depth to the shallow opening beneath the roof.
