Chapter Directors Rob & Amanda Stufflebeam

Greetings B3! Summer is behind us and Fall has arrived. We have already had so many great rides this year, both short and long, that it’s almost hard to keep track of them all. Riding and making memories with great friends are what this Chapter is all about, so let’s continue to go on those awesome rides. Even in the Fall as temperatures cool off, we still have several rides on the calendar, including two Fall Color runs. Our last newsletter was delayed a little so it could include more coverage of Wing Ding, and our Newsletter Editor Steve Hombach did an awesome job. Many Tri-B’s made their way to Knoxville both in groups or solo, so the Chapter was very well represented there. If you made the trek to Tennessee let everyone know! Our Newsletter, Web Page and Facebook pages are always looking for more stories to tell. Unfortunately, our Chapter Ride to the Thomas Edison Museum on Sep 8th was cancelled on account of weather, so we may try to go other time. The Chapter enjoyed an awesome Dinner Ride on Sep 11th with several members riding their bikes out to Kingy’s. Amanda and I even got to show off our new Monster Brite lights on our Trike. Did you make it out to Buckeye Timeout? B3 was again very well represented with both campers and day-goers attending. Wendell Gundy won the Euchre tournament, and Sue Gundy partnered with Esther Ford to win the Cornhole game in the ladies’ category. Competition was downright fierce with men’s teams, couples and women’s sets taking part. Robert Vogel and I made a decent showing in our first game in the men’s – for a few minutes anyway. Lloyd Gladwell and his trademark spin-toss along with his partner literally walked away from Robert and me. In the couples division Amanda and I were schooled by Mary & Ben Bayes – mostly Mary though as she was responsible for the majority of their points (sorry Ben). ;-) If you’re reading this before October 6th, our annual Fun Day is rapidly approaching! A separate email notification will be (has been?) sent out with a flyer. We’ll be having it at Randy Young’s house again this year, heading over there after our monthly Gathering. Its CRAZY SHIRT DAY so bring out your best. Pictures will be posted on the Facebook page and in the next Newsletter for sure. Check out the flyer, email or Facebook post for more details. That’s it from us for now. As always, ride often and ride safe! Rob & Amanda

MEMBERSHIP

Membership in any organization requires a commitment. If we join a chapter, a group, or even GWRRA, sometimes our commitment is very serious. Most of join to have fun and to meet new people, or to have someone to ride with. Some who join and make the commitment eventually end up as officers or staff, making even more of a commitment. The hardest part is learning to work well with others and/or being a part of a whole. Let's face it, to make anything in life work, we must learn to work as one. The rewards can far exceed what you expected. You get new friends, people to ride with and all those wonderful new places you get to visit. Our Chapter B3 should make the commitment to GWRRA and our new extended family; our commitment should be to support our enjoyment, growth, and participation within our Chapter, and the GWRRA family. We all should try to make it the most fun and learning experience that we can. We are FRIENDS for FUN, SAFETY, and KNOWLEDGE. We all know that we can do better, and there is always room for improvement. I ask you, what can you or I do to help make our Chapter the very best that it can be. THINK ABOUT IT!!! There should be no MY Chapter, only OUR Chapter. . . . PLEASE REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING: Bill Ford: Receiving chemo treatments....Also Esther as she stands by. Sandy Durbin: has health issues. We have just learned that Buck Yahn was tragically killed in a truck-train accident in Circleville on July 27th. He had recently renewed his membership in GWRRA and was looking forward to being part of B3 again. Please keep his wife Leatha and his family in your thoughts and prayers. If I have missed someone, PLEASE let me know. . . .

Hi everyone, I can't believe it is October already. Welcome fall! First thanks to anyone who helped with the road guarding for the Zucchini Festival Parade. Most of the chapter was at Wing Ding having a good time. I am sorry I don't know who or if anyone was available. Thanks anyway. Second, the Halloween party is scheduled for Friday October 26th. They can use many of the chapter to help with games, crafts, costume judging and more. Please mark your calendars. Third, don't forget to bring food for the pantry. We only have two more gathering dates for this year and it is greatly needed during the holiday season. Lastly, ladies think about a location for ladies lunch. We will decide that at the gathering. See You Soon, Esther

Thoughts On The Mechanical World

1. Sticking Trunk Lid Cure. If the trunk or saddlebag lids on your Goldwing won't open in frosty weather, try applying some Teflon spray to the sealing rubbers on the lids before the frost appears. The frost makes the rubbers stick, Teflon will prevent it. Car dealers have used this trick for years with great success. From Steve Saunders Goldwing Page

2. Storing a leaky bottle of Gatorade in the trunk of your Goldwing is a bad idea.
