Weed also known as Marijuana, Cannabis,Hemp, etc. is probably the most famous and atthe same time, most misunderstood and foughtagainst plant in the world. Mankind seems to bedivided right down the middle on this topic. Theyeither love it or they hate it. Some say its anaddictive gateway drug that causes Schizophreniaand Psychosis. Others say its a miracle plant thatcures many diseases and ailments such as Cancer,Asthma, Insomnia, Glaucoma, Depression and ithas been known to lower blood pressure and stopheadaches. They say it can be used to makebuilding materials, clothes and fuel. It can be made into a plastic that is biodegradable andit can be used for food. The list of benefits continues to grow with each new study that
comes out. Cannabis supporters also say that all of this comes without any type of sideeffects and only one problem. The only issue is being fined and possibly being arrestedfor the mere possession of Cannabis.
Can this be true? If what Cannabis supporters say is true, then this could be the mostimportant plant on earth. And if this is true, then the powers that control the earth must
know about all of these amazing benefits. So, why is Cannabisoutlawed all over the world like its Heroin, Crack or even Cocaine? Why is the majority of research done at an independent level withoutgovernment grants or help? There are reports of doctors curing
Cancer with Cannabis, why wasnt this pursued and made public? And finally, why are Cannabis users labeled as drug addicts and lowlives along with users of other harder, more dangerous substances?
To understand the magnitude of these questions and of their answers, we have to start atthe very beginning to see how the generations before us used this plant and where Cannabiscommitted its first crime to earn the label of enemy number one. Or we have to prove itsinnocence and let it be used as God intended.
Some of the earliest archeological Hemp (Cannabis)evidence came from about 10,000 B.C., from ropeimprints on broken Chinese pottery. Fragments ofHemp cloth have also been found in Chinese burialchambers dating from the Chou Dynasty (1122-249B.C.). In addition to archeological evidence, writtendocuments refer to Hemp as a source of clothing. For

example, The Shu King, a book dating to about 2350 B.C., refers to the soil in Shantung asrich with silk and hemp while ancient poetry mentions young girls weaving Hemp intoclothing. The Chinese also relied on Hemp for warfare. Due to its strength and durabilityChinese archers made bowstrings from Hemp. Because these Hemp bowstrings werestronger than the enemy's bamboo ones, the Chinese arrows could fly further. This was alarge advantage in war. In fact, Hemp was so important that Chinese monarchs allocatedlarge portions of land specifically for growing Hemp. Then, there is paper. Yes, paper.Paper is probably one of the most significant Chinese inventions. Fragments of paper
containing Hemp fiber have been found inChinese graves dating to the first century B.C.The Chinese made paper by crushing Hempfibers and mulberry tree bark into a pulp andputting the mixture into a tank of water. Thetangled fibers rose to the top of the water, were
then removed, and placed in a mold. Afterdrying, the fibers formed sheets that could bewritten on. The Chinese kept paper making asecret for many centuries. Eventually the secretbecame known to the Japanese during the 5thcentury A.D. and finally to the Arabs throughChinese prisoners in the 9th century.
As you can clearly see, the Hemp plant was a huge part of early Chinese culture and living. There are many other civilizations that have been recorded using Hemp (Cannabis) in a
similar way. The Hindus and Buddhists used Cannabis in the worship of their deitiesbecause they said it brought them spiritually closer. Africans have had a long tradition ofsmoking Hemp in gourd pipes. Both early Greek history and modern archeology show thatCentral Asian peoples were utilizing Cannabis 2,500 years ago. The Celts also usedCannabis, as evidence ofhashish traces were found in Hallstatt, birthplace of Celtic culture. The Dacians and the Scythians had a tradition where a fire was made in an enclosed spaceand Cannabis seeds were burnt and the resulting smoke ingested. Sula Benet (1967)claimed that the plant kaneh bosmmentioned five times in theHebrew Bible is Cannabis. Members of the Rastafari
movement use Cannabis as a part of their worshiping of theirKing, Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, and as an aid to meditation.Elders of the modern religious movement known as theEthiopian Zion Coptic Church consider Cannabis to be theEucharist, claiming it as an oral tradition from Ethiopia datingback to the time of Christ. In Mexico, followers of thegrowing Santa Muerte religious group regularly use Marijuana

smoke in purification ceremonies, with Marijuana often taking the place of incense used inmainstream Catholic rituals.
This proves that the Hemp plant and Cannabis have beenused for many things including medicine and for religiouspurposes for thousands of years all throughout the world. What about in places like America and the U.K.? Cannabiswas used in the U.S. and U.K. for recreational and medicinalpurposes for hundreds of years. Regulations and restrictionson the sale of Cannabis as a drug began as early as 1860.Increased restrictions and labeling of Cannabis as a poisonbegan in many states from 1906 onward, and outrightprohibitions began in the 1920s. By the mid-1930sCannabis was regulated as a drug in every state, including 35
states that adopted the Uniform State Narcotic Drug Act.And in 1937 it was made out right illegal to use or to evenpossess Cannabis in any form. In the 1970s, many places in the United States started toabolish state laws and other local regulations that banned possession or sale of Cannabis. The same thing happened with Cannabis sold as medical Cannabis in the 1990s. All this isin conflict with federal laws; Cannabis is a Schedule I drug according to the ControlledSubstances Act of 1970, which classified Cannabis as having high potential for abuse, nomedical use, and not safe to use under medical supervision. Multiple efforts to rescheduleCannabis under the Act have failed, and the United States Supreme Court has ruled inUnited States v. Oakland Cannabis Buyers' Coop and Gonzales v. Raich that the federal
government has a right to regulate and criminalize Cannabis, even for medical purposes. The U.K. has had a similar situation with Cannabis, but is only now voting to legalize itthroughout the country. What happened?!?! What did Cannabis do to deserve all this heat and to who? Its mindboggling when you add in the fact there has never been a recorded death from Cannabisuse ever in the entire world not one . Onthe flip side, legal substances like alcohol andtobacco are responsible for millions of deathseach year in the United States alone.Pharmaceutical prescription pills have addictivequalities, have lead people to suicide and have bythemselves killed millions of people from overdosing again in America alone. If substancesthat lead to the guaranteed death of millions ofAmericans each and every year are legal, then why

is the Cannabis issue a dead one? In a study done by UCLA, they found that Cannabissmokers have less cases of cancer than people who do not smoke anything at all. Cannabisactually reverses the effects of tobacco use and strengthens the lungs.
This is only one of the healing qualities of Cannabis. Doctors from all over the world havestudied and used Cannabis to treat their patients with flawless results.
Unlike many abused drugs, an overdose of marijuana is
not lethal, according to the National Cancer Institute.
Although they say marijuana can be addictive for some,
the potential for forming an addiction to marijuana is
nothing compared to some prescription drugs and other
abused drugs that are considered legal. The primary
psychoactive chemical in marijuana is THC, ortetrahydrocannabinol, one of more than 60 cannabinoids
(chemicals unique to marijuana). THC binds to
cannabinoid receptors, which are concentrated in areas of
the brain associated with thinking, memory, pleasure, coordination and time perception. -
Dr. Christine Paoletti (Obstetrician/Gynecologist)
The Physical benefits of marijuana are far-reaching, widespread, and long-term. Because ofthe way marijuana impacts the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) which expands the
breath and relaxes the body, its potential for health and healing are enormous, and havebeen completely unrealized by Western Medicine. Thefollowing passages are excerpted from The Benefits ofMarijuana: Physical, Psychological, & Spiritual by JoanBello:
The simultaneous opposing action of marijuana isakin to balancing our entire system. Such balance in theANS can be understood as a charged equilibrium, which isdefined as well-being experienced as physiological
expansion and psychological contentment and responsiblefor health. (p. 29)
The net effect is a highly functioning, yet relaxed, system with better fuel. This iswhy, with marijuana, the feeling is both relaxed and alert, which explains, in part, theexperience of being stoned. Normally the body vacillates between the two opposing

modes of being. The effects of the complicated marijuana molecule somehow actuallyintegrate these two modes, simultaneously, as absolutely nothing else does. (p. 30)
In a Costa Rican study, it was found that chronicmarijuana smokers who also smoked cigarettes were lesslikely to develop cancer than cigarette smokers whodidnt use marijuana. Since marijuana (smoking, as wellas ingestion by other methods) dilates the alveoli, toxinsare more easily eliminated with Cannabis use regardlessof its method of application. Nicotine, on the otherhand, constricts the alveoli, so it is likely that the use ofCannabis neutralizes, or even overwhelms theconstriction, by its own tendency to dilation ...as an aidfor all psychosomatic disease, marijuana can benefit the
participant, generally because of its health-restoringeffects... The fear of marijuana... stems from its limitlesspotential for treating illness, in that both the
pharmaceutical industry and the medical monopoly would lose billions of dollars ifmarijuana became the non-drug of choice. (p. 61)
Marijuana, by its effect on the ANS, enhances both sides of the brain. Through increasedSympathetic action, left brain perception is heightened, while, at the same time, right brainreception is enhanced. This is a physiological fact. More blood, and cleaner blood, is sent tothe brain, as in the fight or flight reaction. And because of Parasympathetic dilation of
capillaries, which signifies relaxation, the blood supply to the entire brain is increased. Moreblood means more oxygen and consequently clearer and broader thinking. Since marijuanaworks on both sides of the brain, the most noticeable effect, in our fast-paced mind set, isone of slowing down, which blends the thrusting competitive attitude with the contrastingviewpoint of nurturance to arrive at a more cooperative balance. This experience is,however, not innate to marijuana, but to themental set of the subject. When we aremellow, tired, and relaxed, marijuana isenergizing and affords alertness, determination, and even strength. Thisvariation in the physiological effects hascaused great confusion from an either/orframework. And the balancing nature ofmarijuana (both/and) has not beenunderstood. It both stimulates and relaxes, simultaneously, which equates to an

unpredictable variation in effect that is solely dependent on the state of its subject. Whenthe system is sluggish, as with natives in warm climates (Africa, India, South America),marijuana has been used extensively and for centuries to energize it:
When the system is hyper-aroused, as in todays lifestyle, marijuana calms. The significance of this fact cannot beignored. It explains the increased creativity reported as apart of the marijuana experience, because when both sidesof brain processes are heightened, both types of brainactivity are greater. The left brain notices more, while theright brain receives more. This is the unification of logicand intuition. The term expansion of consciousness isexplained physiologically as a shifting of brain emphasisfrom one-sidedness to balance (Sugarmena and Tarter,
1978), which fits precisely with the feeling called high.(p. 35)
When we ingest marijuana, the heart swells through capillary enhancement and is fueledmore by more fully oxygenated blood, while, at the same time, its contractions andexpansions are greater, allowing for stronger pumping action to the rest of the body (p. 37)
As the bodys workings can become more harmonious with marijuana, the functioning ofthe five senses can be noticeably improved ....In our discussion, the trigger to the highexperience is marijuana, but many other activities can also produce it, such as jogging,
chanting, fasting, isolation, meditation, and prayer. (p. 41)
The marijuana experience itself does not miraculouslycure. Instead, it allows the body a respite from thetensions of imbalance, while exposing the mentalconfusion of the mind. The marijuana experience ofbalance becomes a learned and, over time, somewhatpermanent response as the essential human tendencyto homeostasis is reawakened and the natural healingprocess restored. Safety of Cannabis
From The Lancet, "There are no confirmed published cases worldwide of human deathsfrom Cannabis poisoning, and the dose of THC required to produce 50% mortality in
rodents is extremely high compared with other commonly used drugs".
According to Associate Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry atHarvard Medical School Lester Grinspoon, "When Cannabisregains its place in the US Pharmacopeia, a status it lost afterthe passage of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, it will be seenas one of the safest drugs in that compendium".
Regarding the relative safety of Cannabis, former US DEAchief administrative law judge Judge Francis Young said:
"There is no record in the extensive medical literature describing a proven, documentedCannabis-induced fatality....Despite a long history of use and the extraordinarily highnumbers of social smokers, there are simply no credible medical reports to suggest thatconsuming marijuana has caused a single death. In practical terms, marijuana cannot inducea lethal response as a result of drug-related toxicity....Marijuana's therapeutic ratio isimpossible to quantify because it is so high.... Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of thesafest therapeutically active substances known to man."
Pain relief
Cannabis' effectiveness as an analgesic has been studied. University of Oxford doctorsfound that the brain on THC showed reduced response to pain, suggesting the drug mayhelp patients endure pain. Brain scans showed reduced activity in two centers of the brainwhere pain is registered, the mid-Anteriorcingulate cortex and the right Amygdala. Cannabisdid not block the sensation of pain likeMorphine-based pain killers. The researchersfound great variation among individual reports ofpain relief. According to Stuart Silverman, M.D., arheumatologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center,"Historically and anecdotally, marijuana has beenused as a painkiller". A Canadian study showedCannabis can reduce "nerve pain" from surgical

complications or injuries. The 21 subjectssuffered from chronic pain. Patientssmoking cannabis with a 9.4% THCcontent reported less pain than patientssmoking placebo. Better sleep and lessanxiety were additional reported benefits.Igor Grant, psychiatrist and director of theCenter for Medicinal Cannabis Research atthe University of California San Diego said"There is good evidence now thatcannabinoids may be either an adjunct or afirst-line treatment". He said not everyoneexperienced pain relief, but the percentage
who did was comparable to those who said they experienced relief from and other
medications commonly prescribed for neuropathic pain (the subject of his study), likeantidepressants. A small-scale UCSF study found patients with chronic pain mayexperience greater relief if cannabinoids were added to an opiates-only treatment. Thefindings further suggested that a combined therapy could result in reduced opiate dosages.
Glaucoma
In glaucoma, Cannabis and THC have been shown to reduce intra-ocular pressure (IOP) byan average of 24% in people with normal IOP who have visual-field changes. In studies ofhealthy adults and glaucoma patients, IOP was reduced by an average of 25% after smokinga Cannabis "cigarette" that contained approximately 2% THCa reduction as good asthat observed with most other medications available today, according to a review by theInstitute of Medicine. In a separate study, the use of Cannabis and glaucoma
was tested and found that the duration of smoked or
ingested Cannabis or other cannabinoids is very short, averaging 3 to 3.5 hours. Their results showed that forCannabis to be a viable therapy, the patient would have totake in Cannabis in some form every 3 hours. They saidthat for ideal glaucoma treatment it would take two timesa day at most for compliance purposes from patients.

Spasticity in Multiple Sclerosis
A review of six randomized controlled trials of a combination ofTHC and CBD extractsfor the treatment ofmultiple sclerosis (MS) related muscle spasticity reported, "Although
there was variation in the outcome measures reported in these studies, a trend of reducedspasticity in treated patients was noted." The authors postulated that "cannabinoids mayprovide neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory benefits in MS." A small study done onwhether or not Cannabis could be used to control tremors of MS patients was conducted.
The study found that there was nonoticeable difference of the tremors in thepatients. Although there was no differencein the tremors the patients felt as if theirsymptoms had lessened and their quality oflife had improved. The researchersconcluded that the mood enhancing orcognitive effects that Cannabis has on thebrain could have given the patients the effectthat their tremors were getting better.
Alzheimer's disease
Cannabinoids found in medical Cannabis prevent or inhibit the progression ofAlzheimer'sdisease.
Research done by the Scripps Research Institute in Californiashows that the active ingredient in marijuana, (THC) prevents theformation of deposits in the brain associated with Alzheimer'sdisease. THC was found to prevent an enzyme calledacetylcholinesterase from accelerating the formation of"Alzheimer plaques" in the brain more effectively than
commercially marketed drugs. THC is also more effective atblocking clumps of protein that can inhibit memory andcognition in Alzheimers patients, as reported in MolecularPharmaceutics. Cannabinoids can also potentially prevent or slowthe progression of Alzheimer's disease by reducing tau proteinphosphorylation, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation.

A 2012 review from the Philosophical Transactions of a Royal Society B suggested thatactivating the cannabinoid system may trigger an "anti-oxidant cleanse" in the brain byremoving damaged cells and improving the efficiency of the mitochrondria. The reviewfound cannabinoids may slow decline in age and disease-related cognitive functioning.
Breast cancer
Medical Cannabis blocks the spread of breast cancer by down regulating a gene called ID1.
According to a 2007 and a 2010 study at the California Pacific Medical Center ResearchInstitute, cannabidiol (CBD) stops breast cancer from spreading throughout the body by
downregulating a gene called ID1. This may provide a non-toxic alternative tochemotherapy while achieving the same results without the painful and unpleasant sideeffects. The research team says that CBDworks by blocking the activity of a gene calledID1, which is believed to be responsible for aprocess called metastasis, which is theaggressive spread of cancer cells away from theoriginal tumor site. According to findingsreleased by the team in 2012, when theparticularly aggressive "triple-negative" cells
(which contain high levels of ID1 and accountfor 15% of breast cancers) were exposed toCBD, they "not only stopped acting 'crazy' butalso returned to a healthy normal state".Human trial models are currently indevelopment. Dr Sean McAllister, study co-leader, commented:
"The preclinical trial data is very strong, and there's no toxicity. There's really a lot of
research to move ahead with and to get people excited".

HIV/AIDS
Medical Cannabis helps to alleviate pain and to improve quality of life for HIV-positivepatients.
Investigators at Columbia University published clinical trialdata in 2007 showing that HIV/AIDS patients whoinhaled Cannabis four times daily experienced substantialincreases in food intake with little evidence of discomfortand no impairment of cognitive performance. Theyconcluded that smoked Cannabis has a clear medical benefitin HIV-positive patients. In another study in 2008,researchers at the University of California, San DiegoSchool of Medicine found that marijuana significantlyreduces HIV-related neuropathic pain when added to apatient's already-prescribed pain management regimen andmay be an "effective option for pain relief" in those whosepain is not controlled with current medications. Mooddisturbance, physical disability, and quality of life allimproved significantly during study treatment. Despitemanagement with opioids and other pain modifyingtherapies, neuropathic pain continues to reduce the qualityof life and daily functioning in HIV-infected individuals. Cannabinoid receptors in the
central and peripheral nervous systems have been shown to modulate pain perception. Noserious adverse effects were reported, according to the study published by the AmericanAcademy of Neurology. A study examining the effectiveness of different drugs for HIVassociated neuropathic pain found that smoked Cannabis was one of only three drugs thatshowed evidence of efficacy.
Brain cancer
THC found in medical Cannabis eliminates brain cancer whileleaving healthy brain cells intact.
A study by Complutense University of Madrid found thechemicals in Cannabis promote the death ofbrain cancer cells byessentially helping them feed upon themselves in a process called

autophagy. The research team discovered that cannabinoids such as THC had anticancereffects in mice with human brain cancer cells and in people with brain tumors. When micewith the human brain cancer cells received the THC, the tumor shrank. Using electronmicroscopes to analyze brain tissue taken both before and after a 26-to 30-day THCtreatment regimen, the researchers found that THC eliminated cancer cells while leavinghealthy cells intact. The patients did not have any toxic effects from the treatment;previous studies of THC for the treatment of cancer have also found the therapy to be welltolerated. However, the mechanisms which promote THC's tumor cellkilling action areunknown.
Opioid Dependence
Medical Cannabis is useful in the prevention and treatment of opiate dependence.
Injections of THC eliminate dependence onopiates in stressed rats, according to a researchteam at the Laboratory for Physiopathologyof Diseases of the Central Nervous System(France) in the journalNeuropsychopharmacology. Deprived of theirmothers at birth, rats become hypersensitive to
the rewarding effect of morphine and heroin(substances belonging to the opiate family),and rapidly become dependent. When theserats were administered THC, they no longerdeveloped typical morphine-dependentbehavior. In the striatum, a region of the braininvolved in drug dependence, the production of endogenous enkephalins was restored underTHC, whereas it diminished in rats stressed from birth which had not received THC.Researchers believe the findings could lead to therapeutic alternatives to existingsubstitution treatments.
In humans, drug treatment subjects who use Cannabis intermittently are found to be morelikely to adhere to treatment for opioid dependence. Historically, similar findings werereported by Edward Birch, who, in 1889, reported success in treating opiate and chloraladdiction with Cannabis.

Controlling ALS symptoms
Medical cannabis is moderately effective in reducing symptoms of Amyotrophic lateralsclerosis (ALS) (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
The potential role of Cannabis in treatingsymptoms of ALS (or Lou Gehrig's Disease) hasbeen the subject of recent research. A survey wasconducted on 113 people suffering from ALS.The survey asked if the subjects had used Cannabisin the last 12 months to control some of theirsymptoms. Of the 113 subjects, 13 had used thedrug in some form to control symptoms. Thesurvey found that Cannabis was moderatelyeffective in reducing symptoms of appetite loss, depression, pain, spasticity, drooling and weakness,
and the longest relief reported was for depression. The pattern of symptom relief wasconsistent with those reported by people with other conditions, including multiple sclerosis(Amtmann et al. 2004).
Cannabis in ReligionThe use of marijuana for religious purposes dates back to the second millennium B.C. and
continues still today. In the past, ancient Chinese belief systems, the Scythian people group
of Central Asia, ancient Germanic paganism, and Hinduism, all used marijuana for religious
reasons. The Jamaican-born Rastafari movement is the most well-known modern religion
that uses marijuana for spiritual purposes.
Chinese ReligionAncient Chinese medical texts from 100 A.D.
recommend marijuana for medical purposes, but they
also teach that if it's consumed over a long period of
time, the user will develop the ability to speak to spirits.

An 8th century book on nutrition called Shiliao corroborates
this belief. The text prescribes consuming marijuana on a daily
basis for one's general health; however, if one desires to
commune with spirits then it's recommended it should be
consumed for 100 consecutive days.
Some ancient Taoists texts mention marijuana being burned in
religious censors. The Shangqing, an ancient Taoist Scripture,
was reportedly revealed to its author, Yang Xi, aided by his use
of marijuana. A follower named Tao Hongjing, a
commentator on the Shangqing, taught that if one consumed
marijuana with ginseng it would enable the user to see the
future.
The ScythiansThe Greek historian Herodotus (484-425 B.C.) wrote that the Scythians, an ancient
nomadic people group in the geographical proximity of modern-day Iran, whose religious
beliefs included mythology and horse sacrifice, used marijuana in sacred ceremonies.
They make a booth by fixing in the ground three sticks inclined towards one another, and
stretching around them woollen felts, which they arrange so as to fit as close as possible:inside the booth a dish is placed upon the ground,
into which they put a number of red-hot stones,
and then add some hemp-seed. The Scythians,
as I said, take some of this hemp-seed, and, creeping
under the felt coverings, throw it upon the red-hot
stones; immediately it smokes, and gives out such a
vapor as no Grecian vapor-bath can exceed; the
Scyths, delighted, shout for joy, and this vaporserves them instead of a water-bath; for they never
by any chance wash their bodies with water. (The
Histories, 4.75)

It is believed that what Herodotus called the "hemp-seed" was the flowering top of the
cannabis plant. The Scythians also used marijuana to induce trance-like spiritual experiences
and for divination.
HinduismMarijuana was used in Hinduism as far back as the second
millennium B.C. It was used in the worship of the Hindu
deity, Shiva. Marijuana has also been used by yogis to enhance
their religious experience and during the spring festival, Holi.
Furthermore, Bhang, a drink that contains marijuana flowers,
is believed to cleanse a user of their sins, help them become
one with Shiva, and avoid hell.
Ancient Germanic PaganismAncient Germanic Paganism associated marijuana with the Norse love goddess, Freya. It
was believed that Freya lived in the plant's flowers, so consuming them meant being filled
with divinity. The Celts may have also used marijuana as evidence of it has been foundwhere the people group once resided.
RastafariThe religion most widely associated with
marijuana today is Rastafari. Many devotees
believe marijuana is the Tree of Life mentioned
in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. Many
followers also believe that marijuana aids in the
worship of God, Bible study, and meditation.
Although not all adherents use marijuana, most
believe it will bring a person closer to God.

They believe that only through the sacramental use of marijuana, combined with prayer and
spiritual reasoning among the brethren can members of the Church come to know God
within themselves and within others.
Christianity, Judaism & IslamThese are the 3 Monotheistic religions (belief in one God). They share beliefs as well as
Prophets and Prophetic stories. I myself am a Muslim and in Islam we are told by our
teachers and scholars that Cannabis is an intoxicant and is there for haraam (forbidden).
We are told this because in the Quran Allah (God) tells us "O You who believe! Indeed,
intoxicants, gambling, sacrificing on stone alters [to other than Allaah], and divining arrows
are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful." [Quran:
5:90]. But, what is an intoxicant? It is defined as:
1. General: Substance which when taken into a
body by one mean or another produces a
condition of diminished mental and physical
ability, hyperexcitability, or stupefaction.
Commonly, a beverage is classified as an
intoxicating when its alcoholic content is 0.5percent or more.
2. Medicine: Substance that poisons or produces
symptoms of poisoning in a body.
We already know through all the provided research that
Cannabis enhances mind and brain functions, as well as
balancing your body so perfectly that your body can then
fight off life threatening diseases. So it doesnt diminish yourmind or body. When someone uses Cannabis in a lazy or
tired mood, the Cannabinoids actually give the person a boost
in energy. On the other side, if a person is hyperactive and
then uses Cannabis the opposite happens and the person is

calmed down. Because the brain function is enhanced people are able to see more clearly
when using Cannabis.
No matter how you look at it, Cannabis doesnt alter or
change a persons perception. They may look stoned and
may be thinking and over analyzing things, but they are
always in control of themselves unlike people under the
influence of alcohol. People who drink alcohol until the
point of intoxication (drunkenness) cant do simple things
like walk in a straight line or touch their noses. That, to me
is the definition of being intoxicated.
There are 5 places in the Hebrew Bible where it speaks
about a herb called Kaneh Bosm that is used as medicineand in their ritualistic practices. Doesnt Kaneh Bosm sound
a lot like Cannabis?
There is a verse in the Bible of Moses being commanded by God Himself to use a herb
called Kineboisin.
Moreover the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying: "Take thou also unto thee principal spices,
of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundredand fifty shekels, and of sweet KINEBOISIN two hundred and fifty shekels.( Exoduschapter 30 verse 2233)
Many times in the Bible you hear of Prophets andMessengers blessing people and places with anointingoils and healing people with these same oils. The onlyoil that they could have had in these areas at that timethat could have cured these ailments is Hemp. Many
Christian scholars argue that Hemp was used asanointing oil in the time of Jesus.
Cannabis is not only an amazing medicine and a
spiritual stimulator, but a hemp crop can be grown
without the use of herbicides or insecticides. Hemp
produces up to four tons of material per acre per year. It

is especially suited to organic sustainable agriculture. Hemp
is categorized as a bast fiber crop. It has a stem consisting
of an outer skin containing long strong fibers surrounding a
hollow wood core. This woody core is of a very open
sponge like structure. After processing the stems, twomaterials are produced; hurds and fibers. Both hurds and
fibers have properties that make them useful in building
construction. Hemp hurds are mixed with a combination
of lime products to produce a light weight, insulating,
breathing material. The mixture of lime to hurds varies with the type of construction
application and prevailing climatic conditions. This hempcrete is cast around a timber
framework. This is achieved by tamping down between shuttering, or it can be sprayed
against a formwork (permanent or temporary). Internally a variety of finishes are possible. In this example the framework has been left exposed
and the hempcrete finished with a natural paint.
Externally the hempcrete is finished with a lime
render which can be painted with breathable natural
paints. So in reality the entire Hemp plant can be
used to make fibers, paper, clothes, building materials,
environmentally friendly fuel, biodegradable plastics
that decay within 2 years, ropes stronger than the ones
we use today, military weapons, insect repellant, and
so much more. Basically everything that is needed to
sustain a comfortable, healthy living environment can be produced from this plant without
any side effects to your health or any damage done to the environment.
Knowing that the Hemp plant can be used for sustainable living with no damaging effects
to the environment and that Cannabis is an amazing medicine, why is it that Hemp is
banned all over the world? Why is it demonized
throughout all cultures? With all the politicians andenvironmentalists screaming for carbon taxes and
environmental changes, why arent they bringing up the
Hemp plant as an alternative to todays methods? And
why in America is medical Cannabis legal in some
states, but illegal on a Federal level in those same states,

making it still punishable with Federal prison time in those supposed legal states?
Canada, New Zealand and several countries in
Europe have approved the nasal spray Sativex,
which uses purified Cannabinoids derived from
Marijuana for the treatment of Cancer pain and
muscle spasms in Multiple Sclerosis. The U.S.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved
two drugs made from synthetic Cannabinoids,
Dronabinol and Nabilone, which treat nausea and
appetite problems in Cancer and HIV patients. Yet
the FDA has not approved Marijuana in its plant
form as a treatment. Still, more than a dozen states have voted to legalize Cannabis for
medical purposes. California was the first state in the country to pass medical Marijuanalaws in 1996. Dozens of states have followed suit despite existing federal laws that classify
Marijuana as a Schedule I controlled substance. Most
residents of states with medical marijuana laws need to
follow a set of guidelines before using the drug; obtain a
medical doctor's prescription, obey rules for the
maximum weight a person can possess and sign up for a
registry of medical Marijuana users. (Medical
Marijuana: Benefits vs. Risks. Lauren Cox, LiveScienceContributor 05 November 2012)
The use of Cannabis remains illegal. It is a Class B drug in the U.K. As a result, the
penalties for getting caught with Cannabis, especially on repeated occasions, can be severe.
The maximum penalty for possession is 5 years in prison and for supplying the drug, 14
years, although an initial reprimand or penalty fine may
be given for first-time offenders. Whereas in America it
is considered a class A drug and is punishable as if it
were Crack Cocaine or Heroin. These laws state thatthere are no health benefits (which I have already shown
the many, many health benefits and testimonies from
patients whom were cured or helped by the use of
Cannabis are at the end of the article) and that there are

too many risks that come with dealing with Cannabis. What risks theyre speaking of, I do
not know.
All of the research speaks for itself. The
Hemp plant is a miracle from God. It cures
almost any disease or ailment a person can
have without any side effects to the patient.
It can cause spiritual awakenings that may
bring one closer to a truth that may alter
their life for the better. It can be utilized to
create environmentally friendly homes, fuel,
food, clothing, tools and the list
continues to grow on. Regardless of their
reasons for banning it, Ill just say this. Who
are we to deny a cancer patient who has just
been given a death sentence what treatments
they can and cannot use to help them? Who are we to tell an environmentalist who is
concerned about the earth we all live on that they cant build their home with an alternate
building material that has been proven safer and stronger than the homes of today? Who
are we to tell the average human being that after a hard days work, he cant relax and
unwind by smoking some Cannabis in the privacy and comfort of his own home?
These are personal choices that have been
taken away from us, the human beings
who live on this earth, by the ones who
wish to control and destroy it. Allah
(God) says in the Quran that for every
disease He created, He also created the
cure and the Prophet Muhammad saidthat Allah doesnt put cures in things that
are haram (forbidden). So why would a
plant that does so much for us be
forbidden to mankind? In closing I will
leave you with this quote.

The Petro Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Military Industrial, Transnational, Corporate
Fascists, Elite sons of bitches vilified the Cannabis plant as a first step towards severing the
natural cycle of things and have taken the farmer out of competition with them in the
production of fibers, fuel, medicine and food. I think that the laws against Marijuana are
the most vivid illustration of where this government has over stepped its bounds in policing
private behavior. The 1937 Tax Act was the first time our government had ever taken it
upon themselves to tell us what seeds we could plant in the ground and what seed we could
not plant in the ground. And in virtue by using that one law against that one plant, they
usurped our relationship with the natural cycle of things. -Gatewood Galbraith
