Coorow is approximately a 3 hour drive from the Perth CBD. It is a pleasant drive through farming areas and small towns, with so much to see along the way. Follow the Great Northern Highway from the lights at Muchea, turn left at Bindoon Hotel onto the Midlands road. At Moora turn left at the stop sign (corner of the Sire Administration building), turn right at next stop sign (Hardware building on corner) and you are now on your way to Coorow. Enjoy the wildflowers scattered along the roadside. Banksias, grevilleas and seasonal flowers.

The Coorow Farm was purchased by a group of farmers for the benefit of the Coorow Community. It is farmed each year by volunteers, using their own machinery and all costs are donated. All proceeds are used to benefit the community by the way of a small grants program. It is managed by the Coorow Community Land Inc (CCLI) The CCLI also purchased the Coorow Hotel and they have an ongoing renovation program to upgrade the beautiful buildings. The business is leased. Coorow was first settled in the 1860s with the arrival of the Long Family. Originally Coorow was part of the Irwin Road Board which stretched from the South Australian border. As smaller Road Boards were formed Coorow became part of the Mingenew and Carnamah Road Boards. In 1962 Coorow became a Shire with its western boundary at the coast. The town’s railway line arrived in 1894, long before the town was gazetted in 1911. Coorow has a long history in agriculture
with the first Massey tractor being purchased by the Bothe Brothers in 1911. Bulk grain handling commenced in 1937 with the completion of concrete wheat bin with 600,000 bushell capacity in 1965.
