Itisa very shocking andbitter fact that Samsungwhich claims Pakistan’s top selling brand im-ported mere 19,204 handsets, which tells thepoor performance of its Pakistanimanagement

team itself. According to Federal Bureau of Statistics(FBS) released the import of Samsung handsets fig-ures for themonth of February 2012.It depicts the real face of ill-skilled Samsung’s

management team in Pakistan, as Pakistani telecommarket experiencing expansion with every passingday, as Pakistani cellular users topped 111 millionmark in a country of 180 million population, whiletheKoreanhandsetsmaker’s Pakistani team importsonly 19, 204 handsets, which means 1 handset for10,000people pathetic; the hilarious proportion de-picts Samsung popularity and credibility. There aremany reasons but key reason of failure is Samsung’spathetic management in Pakistan. The head is responsible for managing and con-

trolling the company’s business and day-to-day op-erations with the aim of securing significant, sustained increase in the value of the company. Sam-sung totally failed toprovide good services to the cus-tomers as major customers have numbers ofcomplaints regarding sales and services, helplinenon-attendance, inferior quality handsets, etc.The rumours hovering in themarket thatMuller

& Phipps Pakistan (M&P), a medicine distributorcompany, will be new distributor for Samsung mo-bile phones. It means the Korean management isthinking to change its strategy in Pakistan to boostits business and get rid of the present managementteam, which led Samsung on the verge of total col-lapse.Mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 111 mil-

lion and its population in the estimated to be 188million–higher by2.1 percent than the last year. Thecountry’s population has been growing at a deceler-ating pace but still Pakistan has one of the highestpopulation growth rates in the world.

The imports ofmobile handsetwitnessed growthof 58 percent in the first quarter of the current fiscalyear 2011-12 comparedwith correspondingperiod ofprevious fiscal year, reflecting high domestic de-mands of customers for multiple brands.According to the figures of Federal Bureauof Sta-

tistics (FBS), the expenses ofmobile handsets are onthe rise asRs 14.25 billionwere spent on the imports

of various brands. As per estimates, the handset sales have in-

creased to 0.125 million handsets on monthly basishaving price range between Rs 1,000 to Rs 55,000.According to the dealers the mobile handsets

market is changing its dynamics constantly in the

past three months with number of global and localbranded phones increasing their shares tremen-dously. The Samsungmanagement inPakistan lacksmarket knowledge and hence failed to fulfill cus-tomer’s demands and hilariously incompetent insolving problems, which led Samsung in completeloss. Another reason for the failure of Samsung inPakistan is the non-professional attitude with rev-erend clients. The service support from Samsung isreally pathetic.“Samsung Electronics admitted that its attempt

to breach the tablet market has largely been a flop, with one executive offering a sobering summary ofits performance,”RogerCheng reported. “‘Honestly,we’re not doing very well in the tabletmarket,’ Han-kil Yoon, a product strategy executive for Samsung, said during amedia roundtable here.”“That Samsung hasn’t met expectations in its

tablet business isn’t a huge surprise; the companylags well behind Apple’s iPad and even Amazon’sKindle Fire in theUSmarket,” Cheng reports. “Sam-sung, however, appears to remain confident that theGalaxy Note will take off.” Cheng reports, “The 5-inch version, which is already out in themarket, hasbeenhit by a string of criticism, largely due to its size. While it acts as a phone, it looksmore like a tweenerproduct in between a smartphone and tablet, callingsome to label it a ‘phablet.’ Yoon said he expects toship 10million units of the 5-inchGalaxyNote, loftyexpectations for a company still smarting in thetablet business.Hebelieves the S-Pen–the stylus thatcomes with the device–allows users to more easilycreate content, rather than consume it. Samsung ear-lier thismonth announced a 10.1-inch version of theGalaxy Note.

The rumours hovering in themarket that Muller & PhippsPakistan (M&P), a medicinedistributor company, will be

new distributor for Samsungmobile phones. It means the

strategy in Pakistan to boostits business and get rid of thepresent management team, which led Samsung on the

verge of total collapse
