The Challenge:
To create the ultimate team-buildingexperience in Queenstown, New Zealand,for 200 Seagate Technologies employees
from around the globe that would test alltheir physical and emotional boundaries of
endurance.

take part in five days of demanding, inspiring and

Howit played out:
On arrival in Queenstown, the 200 Seagate
Technologies staff were divided into 40 teamsof five; in most cases the team members hadnever met before and in some cases dont even
speak the same language. Each team or tribewas given its own distinct identity, including
team racing colours and a name drawn from
New Zealands native bird population.

Howit played out:
For the first four days of the five-day programme
the teams interspersed race training, abseiling,mountain-biking, kayaking, navigation/hiking, withbusiness sessions and addresses from motivational
speakers. It was not all hard work though, with
themed dinners at unique and breath-taking alpinelocations and activities such as visits to a nativewildlife park providing some respite from the
physical challenges.

Howit played out:
Team participants also got to give something
back to the Queenstown community duringBikes for Tykes, a team-building and charityevent where teams built and gifted bicycles
to under-privileged children. On the fifthand final day they put all their newly acquired
physical skills and their stamina to the test
during an all-day endurance race.

Challenges:
Sourcing adequate outdoor equipment
required for such a large group wasorchestrated through HOT Events investingin the purchase of 220 mountain bikes, 100
inflatable kayaks, paddles, life-vests, abseilingand orienteering equipment, which is now
available for use with other events.

Results:
The winning team came over the line in seven-
and-a-half hours while the tail-end teamsfinished in over 10 hours. But more importantlythe participants ended the race equipped with a
new confidence in their abilities and armed withnew skills they can use in the workplace and in
their personal lives skills that will enhance
Seagates reputation for world-class teamwork.

Case Study 2: Cisco Systems
Team Building Event
The Challenge:
In 2009, Cisco Systems was in need of aunique team building event that would bringtogether their local staff and their visitors
from corporate headquarters in California.

Mister Paz was asked to present a theme for
the event, which would include a cocktailreception, team building activity and adelicious buffet-style dinner for 100 people.

Howit played out:
Catering was done by Amsterdams most well-
renowned, authentic Caribbean restaurant, bringingwith them their authentic Caribbean costumes andspirit. Following the cocktail and tapas reception,
the guests put down their pineapples and were
brought to the main cafeteria hall for their teambuilding activity a Samba Drum Workshop. Thisworkshop is designed to get all participants involved
in a collective rhythm.

The workshop was led by an experienced
and eccentric drum leader and eachparticipant was able to choose onepercussion instrument.

Result:
By the end of the 60 minute session, everyone was
involved and contributing to the beat. Theemployees all had a wonderful time and enjoyedthe drumming immensely.
The group was then led upstairs to the balcony
overlooking the campus enormous cafeteria where
they enjoyed wine, beer and traditional Caribbean
cuisine such as Fajitas and Jerk Chicken. A great
success!
