• Heavy rain has been affecting several areasof the country over the past three days,causing floods.

• According to local media, as of 17 March at7.00 UTC, 12 people have died in the regionof Lima due to floods and landslides. Theyalso reported that the death toll has reached62 people since December 2016 and thatover 12 000 houses have been damaged.

• Over the next 72 h, moderate to locally heavy rainmay continue to affect the departments ofHuanuco, Pasco, Junin, Ucayali on the evening of17 March as well as the departments ofAmazonas, San Martin and Loreto later over 18 -19 March.

• In the next 24 h thunderstorms and strong winds(with gusts up to 45 km/h) may also affect thedepartment of Huanuco, Pasco, Junin, Cusco,Madre de Dios and Puno. As of 17 March at 15.00UTC, SENAMHI has issued a Red Alert for severeweather conditions in several areas of the mid-central and mid-eastern departments and anOrange Alert for severe weather conditions in thenorthern, central and eastern departments.
